ChelseaChick 430
I have said before that this ban is harsh - we're all human and we all make mistakes. A doctor wouldn't be forced to pay millions in compensation for taking drugs, for example. Mutu knows he has done wrong and has gone about proving his doubters wrong with excellent performances for Fiorentina. I think we should drop the ban altogether, the man's got his life back on track.Totally agree with you. Its too harsh. He made a mistake..shit happens

ChelseaChick 430
Yeah, and when shit happens, the person sh*tting should be punished. The punishment was too harsh ..i know he only has himself to blame but i still dont think its right. The amount of money he was told to pay is ridiculous

The amount of money he was told to pay is ridiculousI don't think so. He's a professional football player and he wasn't some foolish teenager when this happened. On top of that, we offered him help when he failed the test but he refused and lied.

BlueLion. 21,491
And those mistakes in life have consequences if you didn't realise.Yeah... they have consequences. £16 million's quite a lot of money if you didn't realise. No amount of lines add up to that.
Elliott 7
I think we should do some sort of deal where we take half of his earnings after tax for the next 5 years, quarter in the following 10 years and so on.It probably wouldn't tot up to £16million, but that is ridiculously excessive to expect one person, even a footballer, to pay. chelseapaul 0
The lying fucking *CENSORED BY BL* deserves what he gets.If he didn't lie to Mourinho in the first place it would never of come this far.Teach the cocky cunt to laugh in his managers face and think he's above the law.. We Hate Scouse 10,326
Drop the fucking ban,we are making ourselfs look like cunts. He's making us look like cunts! Playing games with us, trying to get money off. If we decline this offer we will look like cunts and he knows that and with all our bad media recently this won't be much better will it? Decline the offer get all the money back and we can make our own 'large sum' donation to charity and keep some for ourselves.
BluesChick 1,260
Here's my question, in the 5 years this has been in arbitration he couldn't have put away that kind of money??? Really? Do you honestly believe he couldn't have saved enough? I find it hard to believe that he couldn't have put aside at least a healthy portion of the money given what footballers make. I think he just believed that there was no way they would make him pay that kind of money.
the wes 7,212
Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has gone against the grain by supporting Chelsea's £14.6m damages claim for Adrian Mutu. Most clubs, the Italian Players' Association and FIGC have shown theirsupport for the Romanian, who failed a drugs test in 2004.“It is a very high-cost sanction for Mutu, but if the damage he did tothe club was serious then I don't see why he should pay less,” musedZamparini. “The damage must be proportional to the compensation.”Palermo have their own experience of these matters, as defender MorisCarrozzieri was banned for two years after testing positive for cocaine.Like Mutu, he took the drugs in a social setting and not as aperformance-enhancing drug. While Chelsea sacked the striker, Palermohave given their support to Carrozzieri.“If the rules don't change, he cannot keep training with us. We evenasked for permission from FIFA, but they did not accept our proposal.http://www.football-italia.net/sep12q.html

BlueLion. 21,491
I really think we should call it quits with Mutu. Let him pay what he can, and let him carry on with his life.
