Kez 2,727
I agree with that, Essien should be playing today
Alee. 182
I think it was clever, we didn't need that much physical ability against Fulham, why not give him a break?
atotheo 0
Yes u are right.. its better the players are tirred and get injured, then rotating the team
Badboy 1,526
What the hell is this thread for, we are rotating and we are winning games. I think you are pointing to the fact that rafa has tried it in the past and failed. The difference between us doing it and rafa doing it is massive. We have a squad of players that are that good that key players like essien can have a rest. We have a midfield quartet that can cope NO PROBS without essien, mikel lampard obi and malouda passed the ball really well today and made fulham chase it. Liverpool were doing the wrong way they were dropping torres and playing ngog lol and dropping gerrard and playing lucas hahahaha.
Shane 2,275
Did United win the league last season by keeping the same 11 the whole time? Didn't think soIf we want to give Essien a rest we have another quality player to come in, No problem.

diskoviolente 425
Rotation with a squad having two players for each position works very well, gives you power and strength for 4 competitions.End off

Shane 2,275
so what happen to Claudio Ranieri if that's way forwardWhats the point in playing Essien when we don't need too? He played in a tough game midweek and deserved a rest, Burley will be alot more physical than Fulham and thats the game Essien will excell in. United last season barley played with a unchanged team and with that there top players remained fresh and ready.
TrueChelseaBlue 105
We have the strength in depth, and quality in our squad to be able to Rotate it. The differance with Ranieri was we didn't have the players we have today
BlueLion. 21,491
I think Carlo rotates the squad sensibly, and it positions he can afford to. For example, he wouldn't rest Essien against a team such as Arsenal, or against someone where we will need his drive, and he wouldn't rest Drogba if we were playing against a team who were planning of parking the bus. It's all sensible because he has players who are perfectly suited to replace those who are being rested, for example, against a team who are physical and powerful, you need players like Mikel and Ballack who are tall and strong, but you also need players with pace like Anelka and Malouda. BlueLion. 21,491
And therefore we don't want him getting injured so early into the season by playing him when he isn't needed.

the wes 7,212
at the moment Chelsea supporters are happy with rotation at the moment because we are wining but when the shit hits the fan Chelsea supporters will start to say that rotation doesn't work
Alee. 182
We're happy cause Rotation is not affecting us, meaning the rotation being done is sensible. If we lose, it means that the Rotation wasn't sensible, meaning its not the fans that change, its the rotation. As long as rotation brings in results, im sure no one has any problems. You cannot compare Carlo's rotation with Ranieri's because resting 1-3 players is different from resting 6-8, Resting players keeps our team fresh, United do it, Liverpool do it badly and Arsenal don't do it, It shows when they finish 4th every season. We will get unhappy players if they don't have game time, Rotation gives quality players game time all the time, Whats the use of a 90% Michael Essien when we have an 100% Mikel? I'd like all our players to be at there best, and rotation lets us do this.Maybe you will see the importance of Rotation and Stregth in depth when the Champions League group stages come in. 5354 204
If thats the case, I suppose Anelka will be dropped for a stronger&physical player? I mean Burnley definitely will be physical against the strikers. Maybe Drogba will do well against them but Anelka??
Steve 10,227
At the end of the day we got the 3 points and that all that matters. I think atm this rotation is working well and he might as well stick to it. We are 3 games into the season and have started very well. When we are into the bigger game Carlo will know what player will need to be played. He is the coach and we must trust in him. We are not the ones watching the players train day in and day out. For all we know essien may not of been training well mid week and Mikel earned his Position.
