Shaun Cummings on loan at West Brom

Recommended Posts

ALBION have moved swiftly to sign cover for the injured Gianni Zuiverloon (hamstring) at right-back by signing Chelsea's Shaun Cummings on a month-long loan. The 20-year-old defender has been handed the No. 26 shirt and is eligible for tomorrow's trip to Peterborough (ko 7.45pm).

Hammersmith-born Cummings is no stranger to working under Roberto Di Matteo having spent last season on loan with him at MK Dons.

He made 35 appearances, including four as a substitute, for the Dons as they just missed out on a second successive automatic promotion by two points - and cruelly lost to Scunthorpe on penalties in the League One play-off semi-finals.

The pacey, 6ft full-back came through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and was a regular in Blues' reserves in the previous two seasons under now-Reading manager Brendan Rogers.

He signed his first pro contract with Chelsea in July 2008 and just days later moved to Milton Keynes for an initial one-month spell that was extended to the end of the campaign.
