Aesthetic Relic 301
Keane linked with Chelsea moveSunderland are being linked with a £5million swoop for Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell as he struggles for action at Stamford Bridge. The midfielder is not getting a look-in at Chelsea after joining the Blues from Reading on a free transfer in the summer and Black Cats boss Roy Keane is ready to offer him a way out.Sidwell was expected to start for Chelsea against Valencia on Tuesday night, but he did not even make it off the bench during the goalless draw and could now be looking for a new side.Keane is reported to want him on board and after being told he will have £20million to spend on new players in January, the boss is ready to spend a quarter of it on drafting in Sidwell.Sidwell got goals from midfield during his time at Reading and Keane wants that at Sunderland, as he attempts to keep the club in the Premiership. TrueChelseaBlue 105
I like Sidwell.. and when the ACN come round he will be required alot more... And when called upon, i reckon he can do the biz Stay at Chelsea Sidders.. !!
captainmarvel 1
depends if we sign a midfield player like a playmaker that Avram has been banging on about.. then he's off.. 5 million for a fringe player that isn't even good enough for Chelsea standard is a pretty good deal imo
Fulham Broadway 17,350
Agree, doesnt really cut it, but if we dont acquire another midfielder for the ACN he'll have to stay.
BlueLion. 21,491
He is a player who gives us good cover, but we have too many class midfielders. Plus Ballack will be back soon.
bombayblue™ 55
it'll leave us with jus ballack, maka & lamps and if anyone was to get injured/suspended we'd be fucked... so unless anyone is signed we wouldnt sell him..
EskWeston 696
It is pretty clear he isn't going to be able to cut it at our level. He will go if we can sign another midfielder to replace him in the squad and any return on him is a profit which will be nice too.

chrismada9 1,948
Don't sell Sidwell! He's a good midfielder we signed for free, and he's English!
Fulham Broadway 17,350
More stuff about Sunderland wanting him -but only on a loan basis. It'd become permanent methinks, and we can do better. Ben haim, Sidwell and Pizzaro -Poor to average signings just because they were free ? Stupid, when Abramovich has fouteen thousand million squid. From -Vital FootballPremiership strugglers Sunderland have expressed an interest in taking Chelsea's Steve Sidwell on loan. The former Reading midfielder has very much been a peripheral figure at Stamford Bridge since joining in the summer, although he did start yesterday's game against Fulham. Black Cats boss Roy Keane is desperate to add experienced players to bolster Sunderland's midfield for the battle against relegation, but Chelsea are reluctant to let Sidwell go because of the African Cup of Nations, which will rule fellow Blues midfielders Obi and Essien out of action. True_Blue 469
It's better to sell him than loan him for sure. But i think it would be madness to sell or loan him now when The Nation Cup and stuff...we will need all the players we can get even if they are ''average''. BlueLion. 21,491
I think some regular football would do him the world of good. A loan deal would be great, bring him back next summer, if he still cannot cut it, sell him.
captainmarvel 1
he is simply not good enough, end of. he is never going to be. He would do well at a mid-table club.. no way at a top club like us
EskWeston 696
He is never going to be able to cut it with us and like Ben Haim needs to be replaced, ideally someone young and with hunger.

Fulham Broadway 17,350
Lol, quality....Oh don't forget Pizarro, we can add him to the misfit list as well.Although having a few brilliant touches, its goals wot win games 'and all that. Also remnants of suspect mullet, rank him with Sidwell, and Ben Haim as not worthy to wear the shirt.
