millzy_chelsea_fan 4
Russia star Yuri Zhirkov has dismissed speculation that he will sign for Chelsea this summer. The CSKA Moscow man had been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge but the 25-year-old insists he is yet to receive an offer from the Blues."I honestly know as much about it as everyone else," he told Sport Express. "I read the papers, listen to the radio and I am genuinely surprised, given that no actual offer from Chelsea exists." New Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is expected to transform the squad over the summer with Zhirkov one of the names believed to be on the Italian's shortlist. And Zhirkov says he would welcome the chance to play in the Premier League should the opportunity arise. "Clearly we are talking about one of the best clubs in the world, who regularly compete at the highest level," he added. "It is very possible that I would say yes. "But before that I would have to weigh up the pros and cons. "To sit on the bench and only get on the pitch from time to time doesn't interest me, not even at Chelsea. "Moreover, I have nothing to lose (by staying in Moscow), given that CSKA now have a very interesting team who will begin competing in the Champions League in the autumn." http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/20862...elsea_link.aspx that was from the start of june. recently there is many reports saying that he will join today. Didier Drogba 0
The Zhirkov deal will happen, nothing is being rushed, it'll take a while to finalise as Zhirkov as to find somewhere too live, his family etc. I'm sure we've verbally agreed a deal to sign him, it will be finalised before we go to America so he can join up for pre season training probably. chrismada9 1,948
Does Zhirkov need a work permit as well. That could take some time to come through??
BlueLion. 21,491
You could be correct there, CJ. Maybe the club want everything finalised before issuing a statement; like the Turnbull deal?

I remember the same thing happened with kalou they did not want to say anything until his work permit was through.
the wes 7,212
CSKA Moscow have confirmed Yuri Zhirkov is close to signing for Chelsea. Turnaround: CSKA star Yuri Zhirkov But the Russians have warned the deal could yet be derailed. AC Milan have reportedly made a late approach for the 25-year-old left-sided player. But Sportsmail understands the matter of Zhirkov passing a medical is just about all that stands in the way of the transfer. CSKA president Yevgeny Giner said: 'I won't deny that we are negotiating with Chelsea on the transfer of Zhirkov to the London club. 'But until the contract is signed it is pointless to comment. After all, in all transfers there are so many nuances and any can derail teh transaction. 'CSKA are an open club and we will officially comment on the outcome of negotiations once they are completed.' It is understood that Zhirkov, who can play at left-back and on the left wing, has secured a visa and will travel to London to complete the £18million transfer this weekend. He is expected to be put through a medical at Cobham in the next few days after agreeing terms on a four-year contract worth £80,000 a week. Milan 17,959
When I saw the title, I was really pissed-off . But basically, the president hasn't said anything desponding. I am quite happy with that words . Edited July 3, 2009 by milan.cech
millzy_chelsea_fan 4
all he has to do is complete a medical and like Chelsea they won't say anything until it is complete.
