.sum41 229
Michael Owen is eager to put his 'poor spell' at Newcastle United behind him by scoring goals and lifting silverware at his new club Manchester United. The England international sealed his shock free transfer to the Red Devils on Friday after passing a medical and then signing a two-year contract. Owen endured a difficult time at St James' Park, where he signed from Real Madrid in 2005, netting just 26 Premier League goals in four years. The 29-year-old is excited about the next chapter in his career as he looks to recapture his best form and help United continue their winning ways. He told MUTV: "It feels great. I never even had it in my wildest dreams really but then I got the call from the manager to come and meet him. Shock "It was a shock but I'm obviously really happy and things have moved quickly since then. "I probably had a poor spell up at Newcastle but prior to that, my career was very good and I'm sure a top club like this can reignite my career. Hopefully I can score a few goals and help the team to more success. "It's early days but when you think about United, you automatically think about winning trophies, the stadium, the massive fanbase." Fitness Owen also rejected suggestions that he is injury prone, stressing that he passed his United medical without any complications. He added: "A lot is made of it and probably a lot will come out in the coming months and years but I certainly don't feel like I'm injury prone. "I'd like to think that everyone was quite surprised at how my medical was. I knew I would pass my medical, I've obviously passed them before. My fitness is fine." Wxgba 306
Man United sell Ronaldo, and bring in Owen. Looks like we might win the league this year!
We Hate Scouse 10,326
I think he might be a decent little snatch for them. Also he clearly isn't the replacement for Ronaldo.
Elliott 7
I reckon, surrounded by team mates who have some what more ability than his former Newcastle team mates, Owen will do quite well at United. Unfortunately.

Unfortunately. Agreed. United have nothing to lose; he goes there for abolsutely no cost at all. Owen's a proven goalscoring. Newcastle were basically shit; with support from the likes of Rooney and Giggs who have incredibly good vision, he'll bang in 10 to 15 goals next season; which is more than we got from a £30 million striker. Sir Alex Ferguson is a right old fucker because he takes gambles like this and they usually pay off. United have nothing to lose from this. Ollie 4,400
Great transfer for english football. Ideal scenario for me would be for Owen to do awesome next season but Man Utd only get like the Carling Cup or FA Cup maximum. I love Michael Owen, watched him since he was 15 and i hope he can revitalise his career now. Fergie could've just saved Michael Owen's career. Hopefully he gets in that world cup squad, we should've picked him up when we had the chance. Big opportunity missed imo. Hes still got it. He aint as good as anelka though who is the same type of player but with more pace and finishing ability.

I don't think Owen would produce much on Chelsea, he lost his pace and strength he once had and wouldn't compete with Drogba/Anelka. Sorry to burst your bubble but Chelsea is going for the treble .
