Stamford 3
I was very sceptical about him taking Makelele's role in the beginning, but along with Malouda he was our most improved player over last season. I hope he does stay a long time, he puts everything in when he plays.

the wes 7,212
The agent of John Obi Mikel has confirmed he will sign a new Chelsea deal this week. With the player's current deal due to expire next year, there have been rumours that Jose Mourinho is interested in taking the 22-year-old Nigeria international to Inter Milan this summer. However, agent John Shittu has now revealed that Mikel is ready to sign a five-year deal to stay at Stamford Bridge. "He will sign the deal early this week," he told Kick Off Nigeria. "Some of the club officials were away, but they were expected back last weekend. As soon as everybody is in, we will sign the new contract. "It is a very good deal for him and would put him at par with some of the top earners in the club."

Badboy 1,526
Excellant news. Mikel is a class act and definate one for our long term future. Easy to forget his age most of the time, but it has been very impressive the way Mikel has grown since joining us.... I forget how old he is every time he plays. Its like 99% of Chelsea fans think he is essien's age when he plays. He improved on his defensive game last season.

BlueLion. 21,491
Skysports.com understands that John Obi Mikel has signed a new long-term contract with Chelsea. The Nigerian midfielder has been with the Blues since joining from Lyn Oslo in 2006 after a protracted and controversial transfer saga. He has since established himself as a key player for Chelsea and earned particularly good reviews for his performances last season, when he had to take on more responsibility in the absence through injury of Michael Essien. Mikel's deal had been set to expire next year, leading to speculation that he could be set to leave Stamford Bridge. However, agent John Shittu revealed earlier this week that Mikel was ready to commit his future to Chelsea by penning a new five-year deal. And it is believed that the 22-year-old has now done just that to give the Blues a boost ahead of the new Premier League campaign. the wes 7,212
John Obi Mikel's future at Chelsea is up-in-the-air. The Times says Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen to sign a big-name midfielder, which could mean Obi Mikel making way. The Nigeria midfield player has only one year left on his contract and has yet to be offered another.
