TomCFC 357
Sorry if this has already been posted, or if this is in the wrong place. "There will be a new flag at Wembley this weekend, offering a message to our Dutch temporary coach. The flag is a fans' initiative and something Blues wanted to create to show appreciation for Hiddink's short tenure at the club, which secured our place in Saturday's final. Fans made their feelings known during our last home game of the season, as the chant 'We want you stay' reverberated around the stadium, to which Hiddink took a bow. Chelseafc.com grabbed a sneak preview of the new flag, which was unveiled inside the West Stand yesterday afternoon. Below is a video offering a glimpse of what to expect when the flag is unfurled in front of the 90,000 people inside Wembley on Saturday afternoon." http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0...1674913,00.html

Only photo I have of it... There will be plenty of flags for Guus just like there was at the Blackburn game, would have been better to put cards on the seats to hold up which spelt out 'Thanks Guus' or something. Still, nice touch.
EskWeston 696
It's a nice touch. And i am Guus appreciates it. It will make it even easier for him to come back one day in the not too distant future to take up a role at Chelsea.
Fulham Broadway 17,363
It's a nice touch. And i am Guus appreciates it. It will make it even easier for him to come back one day in the not too distant future to take up a role at Chelsea. He has certainly revitalised the team and shows what could have been acomplished this season with a consistent coach that the team want to play for -PL, CL and domestic cups -even without Joe Cole. As for his return, it would be good, but his age is aginst him now and personnel would have moved on and new ones come in. Still, hes been the dogs bollocks since hes been here... He has hinted himself recently (i think on Big Match Countdown on CTV) that he could come back to the club in some other role than manager as i think he feels he wants to retire from management and do something different. So the reports of Rijkaard comming in and Hiddink comming back as DOF could be spot on. It would have been fantastic if we could have kept Guus, i would have been very confident he would have brough in the right players in the summer and next season we would have been different class. BlueLion. 21,491
I highly suspect Guus may retire after his contract with Russia expires, paving the way for him to return to the Bridge as Director of Football.

Alee. 182
Him as DOF would suck, if we have a big name manager, their might be a clash of personalities and so on.. Anyways, Good new flag, hope to see it flying high at Wembley =)

Laylabelle 9,539
Awww from the offical site: Chelsea Football Club has released the following statement: Guus Hiddink has done a fantastic job as temporary first team coach. Everybody at Chelsea FC would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him luck for the future. Winning the FA Cup was a fitting tribute to his management and coaching skills, and a perfect send-off for him. We are very grateful to him for what he achieved during his short time at the club. He will always be welcome back at Chelsea as a friend, and in any other football capacity. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours. John Terry and Frank Lampard both showed their appreciation for Hiddink and all his fantastic work after yesterday's FA Cup triumph. Speaking at Wembley with another FA Cup title to their names, our captain and vice-captain expressed their thanks to our Dutch temporary coach for all he has done at Chelsea. 'We love him,' said Lampard, 'everyone appreciates what he has done both inside and outside of the club and the fans have taken to Guus very quickly. 'The way he works behind the scenes obviously works, but the way he has conducted himself has been taken on board by the fans and the press and public, that's why people respect him so much.' After such a short but successful tenure at the club, yesterday's win was the perfect way to say goodbye to Hiddink, and there were touching scenes after the final whistle as the players expressed their gratitude. 'It was very emotional; he has had a very good bond with the players, which has gone both ways,' explained Lampard. 'We are resigned to the fact that he is leaving and we wish him well, but it was a great way to go out. He is a great man and we're sad to see him go.' Terry added: 'We have had a great time under Guus and they are big shoes to fill whoever comes in now, there is no doubt about that. 'How he has handled himself in training and how he has represented the football club have been great. 'He never lets something get too far. If he sees something happen in training he makes a decision there and then and he tells you. Little things like that make a massive difference. 'But it's definitely not goodbye to Guus, it's the start of something new. He has seen things that need to be changed at the football club and he will continue to help change those things in the future.'
