Zola's get-out clause

WEST HAM boss Gianfranco Zola has a get-out clause in his new contract - and so does Steve Clarke, the Italian's No 2.

This will spark fresh speculation about the pair's long-term futures at Upton Park, especially with former club Chelsea announcing a new boss in the summer.

The Blues are aware of the get-out clauses although it would cost them more than £3million in compensation to take Zola and Clarke to the Bridge.

But that would be no obstacle for Blues' billionaire owner Roman Abramovich, a known admirer of Zola.

Zola's pay has been boosted to £1.5m a year, with Clarke becoming the highest-paid coach in the league on £850,000.

But a summer switch across the capital to swanky West London would see those pay packets rocket even further.

A Chelsea insider said: "Money is rarely a problem at Stamford Bridge."

it will be at our own demise if we do, let him make those new to the game managerial mistakes at west ham first.. unless he leads them to european football then hes proved himself

He needs more experience before he manages at the Bridge. In around five years though...Zola and Clarke could make a sexy pairing for us.

Would love them to come in AFTER they've seen out their contracts at West Ham, which I can see both of them doing, since they are both honest professionals.

Yeh I'd rather see them see out and get experince.Cause you know what some of the newer fans of ours tend to be like run of poor results and be 'get them out' yada yada.And experince do them good and no doubt both of them well mainly Zola feel the same

IF they come back to us, I'd like it in a few years, and so that The board has a lot more patience with them, with them at the helm any dynasty they could shape would be a great one.

zola has experience with the under 21 italian squad

so when are 30 year olds etc start to leave & retire this is the best time to get him.

well yeah too soon atm but i'm sure they will both be back after the next guy in say 3-4 years.
