EskWeston 696
As the youth and Reserves season has drawn to a close i will be doing a few reviews of the season, and also some player reviews for the future. Today i am going to be highlighting someone who has done something at reserve and youth level that we have not seen since Carlton Cole, and that is score goals on a very regular basis. Borini is and Italian workhorse, he puts himself around the pitch and gets stuck in. So his work ethic is absolutely spot on. He isn't the most skillful player but he has his moments of flair, he isn't the fastest either. But what he can do is score goals, he is one of those strikers who can pop up in the right place everytime and nick a goal. He has played in a number of positions for the youth and reserves this season and performed well and scored from all of them. He has played the lone striker, as a winger and as the attacking midfielder number 10. Most impressive though are his stats: Youth team: 10 appearances - 11 goals Reserves: 6 starts + 2 Subs appearances - 4 goals He has finished the top goalscorer in the reserves and second in the youth Behind Nouble who has played more games. Next season will be an interesting one for Borini, the club will more than likely want to keep him at the club so he is eligable for the UEFA homegrown rule, which means the reserves will be his place. That in itself will be a challenge as the games are few and far between, but if he can carry this seasons form into next season Borini will be pushing on having a look in with the first team....... Alee. 182
Yepp, hopefully we can get someone decent who cares about Youth football, we haven't treated our young talents extremely well..

It is extremely difficult for young players when the first team manager is changed so regulary, the managers are less likely to take the risk of a youngster. For me though we need to be looking at the coaching set up at the youth level, Dermot Drummy just doesn't seem to be the right man to be coaching the under 18's, i would like to see us invest in some better coaches for the youth levels. In an ideal world it would be ex-players.

NattyBlue 44
I love watching Borini play when I watch the highlights thanks to Esk...I think he'll break through soon probably after next season because his ability seems insane and the Club won't want another Nouble on their hands (someone that will unfortunately leave)

He has started this pre season the same way he finished last season, by continually scoring goals! Borini will hopefully have another good season, only reserves football for him this season though.
