Stopping an away goal...

So it seems that we'll have to go for a win at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, But the problem is, what happens if we concede an away goal? We certainly cant do that, So what would you do? Play a attacking formation and go for a win, trying to cancel out the Barca attacks, or defend early on and then push up the gear in the second half?

Personally, i would choose the latter, we've shown that we can absorb pressure very well, i know its Stamford Bridge, but Barca wont sit back just cause its not their home, just ask Bayern.. We can do some defending earlier on, and send up Malouda Anelka and Drogba in the second half, What say you?

At the end of the day, all we have to do is score 1 more goal than them. We HAVE to be a massive ammount more adventurous than we was in Barca, and we will be. Defensively they are weak. We need to harrass them, win the ball and break in numbers and we will get the goals we need.

If we start worrying too much about stopping them again we will end up in the same situation we was in on Tuesday! We need to let them worry about stopping US this time.

True, But, lets face it, they're attack is better then ours, while our defense is better then their defense. They have Marquez and Puyol out (i think).. So, i think counter attacking them will be the best way to go?

And make the most of chances. On Tues we had 2 pretty good chances and they had what 20 lol. They score one we need to score two is the scary part but yeh we need to stop worrying about the fact they can score and focus on us scoring as well and defend...and defend for set pieces again

I am expecting a 4-2-3-1 formation. With anelka on the right flank and Essien and Ballack infront of the defense. ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!!! no point being defensive in this game.

It is definately going to be a high scoring match. We need to play high up the pitch and try to engage their defense as it is their weak spot. Also, the narrow and a relatively smaller pitch of Stamford Bridge will nullify the passing of barcelona and it will be more tough for them.

If we give up an away goal, we do so and have to do what we have done lately....play smart attack if that makes sense

How many times have we been down early and fought back? Even against good men

If we are down early, I will not fret like I usually would because this team seems to have the "it" factor of coming back

Forget Messi, Man Mark Xavi!!!!

Just saw Barca vs Madrid highlights. Xavi is the key. He had 4 assists in todays game and countless more for the entire season. The front three strikers get most of their supply from Xavi. If we can man mark him with Essien, we can cut their goal scoring chances and dent their game plan.

Also, few of the goals were due to terrible defending for example, Diarra losing the ball and Casillas running out to clear the ball.

Couldnt agree more. Xavi was behind most of their attacks.

Agreed. People will say that they scored six goals, which is fair enough. They also conceded two. Drogba and Anelka were paired together yesterday because they are going to be playing against Pique - who looked vulnerable on Tuesday - and probably Eric Abidal - who is a left back. Reckon if we get the ball up to Drogba, he'll murder them both.

I personally think if we attack them we will score, but if we sit back and let them attack us again they will win. They have a very strong attack but a very weak defence as it stands. If drogba and anelka start together on wednesday and they play like they did against fulham i think we will tear them to shreads. But i guess as it stands before that whistle it is still 50/50.
