Why are we going through the process again after doing it with Madueke for 2 years?

However, they are a more established team with same manager for 9 years or so, and many players serving for long time. Also, they faced a much weaker side than us. City also struggled against Palace, so were Liverpool. 17 minutes ago, NikkiCFC said: He should be given time to adapt and introduced slowly. I think we will benefit from Gittens once he understands his role, develops some chemistry with teammates and learns the routes he needs to run. Estevao is different type of player, he can have nice flashes on his own, hence he looked brighter Today, Gittens is more of a system player. Caicedo, Enzo, Palmer, Neto - just to mention a few of our best players - also didn't impress much on their very first games, they needed at least a couple of weeks to fit in a bit. This is exactly what is wrong with this board. 10+ comments on how the unpopular signing was shit apparently, yet you all gloss over Pedro and Palmer doing piss all. No one wants to give Palace credit. They sat defensive as f*ck and did not break their shape. That happens sometimes, and in fact, it happens more than you think with a team like Palace who beat Man City and Liverpool. At times it’s very very short sighted in here, same ppl moaned about cucu, and he’s turning out to be one of the best LB on the planet! There was plenty of shit performances out there today but hey guess it’s easier for these people to pick on the new lad to suit a narrative, it’s pathetic, almost as pathetic as the transfer thread. I have been giving credit to Palace and their defensive performance in all assessments made yesterday. Their performance has no bearing on how worryingly raw Gittens looks. I’m not hating on the lad, he clearly needs time to adapt and improve and the later he must. I’m more worried about not having a LW who we can rely on because we don’t. Blue Armour 4,442
Also, even if Pedro was marked out for most of the game, I wish we had kept him on, by moving him to the wing and let Delap come on for one of the other wingers. Just to get more goal threat up front. Reddish-Blue and Fulham Broadway

Bluepower777 36
I was never in favor of Gittens, what has he actually done, overated by the SD's. Also we lacking a creative central midfielder. Caceido and Fernandez are not that type of players. If you look at Wharton and his pin point passing that opens up defences is what we need. lluubbeenn 173
Team performance - solid but slow and too passive. Individual: Sanchez - Not great at distribution, but not bad eighter. Good in the air. Was completely surprised by Eze and saved by VAR. James - Solid at the back. Some unnecessary fouls, but good distribution over the lines. Chalobah - solid, too passive on the ball. Josh - Considering age and experience great, but was shaky on the ball and even though he was dealing with Mateta, he almost never got the first ball against him. Cucu - Active and everywhere. Playing with a lot of new players showed at times. Caicedo - a beast as usual Enzo - very slow and disappointing. Hope he gets into rhythm fast. Palmer - was pocketed by their midfield. Kudos to Wharton especially. He went wider in the last 15 minutes and was a lot better. Too little too late. Gittens - Out of sync. Too early to judge him harshly. Neto - Energetic and active. Not enough real danger. Pedro - Was lost around their 3 CBs. Couldn't influence the game. Estevao and Santos - good moments. Quite raw. Gusto - played too centrally and too little to be effective Delap - Positive signs. Gives us another option and can be quite useful in these type of games. Final thoughts - Weren't ready for a game against such a solid team, but with a bit of luck could have gotten the 3 points. They are probably loosing players so our rivals can find them easier to play/win against.
Reddish-Blue 2,507
Game went as expected, Palace are ALWAYS hard to break down and they are coming off the Community Shield win vs Liverpool The only takeaways from the game: - Defense looks light without Colwill - Gittens looks super raw - Need to develop that chemistry in the final third between Palmer/Pedro/Neto/Estavao.
