Shevchenko - 'I was not a flop at Chelsea'

ANDRIY SHEVCHENKO returns to London this week insisting: “I was not a flop at Chelsea.”

#bodycopy a { font-size: 12px; } The Ukraine striker faces England at Wembley admitting his two seasons at Stamford Bridge were “difficult”.

But Sheva added: “People who think I was a flop at Chelsea are wrong. Yes, they were two difficult years but you will see the return of the hitman at Milan.

“I have had to become a real player again but in the future I will completely regain my prowess.”

Shevchenko has yet to back up his words with deeds – he is without a goal in Serie A since returning to AC Milan.

But his club boss Carlo Ancelotti still claims to have faith in him and believes Chelsea didn’t play him in his proper position often enough.

Ancelotti said: “Chelsea play with one striker and two wingers. Andriy was not going to replace Didier Drogba and he is not a winger.

“He is one of the best strikers in the world – that’s why Chelsea paid the money they did for him in the first place – but it didn’t work out.”

I don't think he was a complete flop either. He scored a couple of important goals for us, got into the double digits his first season too. Will always be my favorite player, I hope things go well for him at Milan :)

AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko expects to return to parent club Chelsea at the end of the season.

"I don't regret anything," he said. "I needed to refresh myself physically and that's what I've done at Milan.

"I haven't been used but I have made myself available. When I returned I said that I would have accepted anything.

"I knew no-one would do me any favours, and I knew that I would be the last striker in the team.

"I'll behave as a professional until the end, then I'll return to London.

"I'll live in London but I don't know where football will take me next season. I'll speak to Chelsea and we'll make a decision.

"I have confidence in myself."

I would as well, though he was given more than a few chances. Needs an injection of confidence and to lose the rabbit in the headlights look

Sheva was, and maybe still is one of my favourite strikers ever. I remember my very first game I went to see was Milan VS some turkish team. Shevchenko scored 2 goals. He's one of the great strikers, and I want to see him back at Chelsea if it is at least for one more season.

I love Sheva, and I'd love to see him back at the club, I feel really bad for him, he was pure class back in the day, and when we got him, he was shot down, I hope we do get him back and he gets some serious game time.
