Aesthetic Relic 301
Anyone else feeling a bit more optimistic for the rest of the season? I know the league is a long shot, but the arrival of Hiddink has got me buzzing again. The Juve game cant come quick enough. I was very impressed with our 1st half performance against Villa. If we play like that for the remainder of the season we could end up with something to shout about.
Elliott 7
I was certainly encouraged by the performance at Villa, and I think we can keep third place now, and maybe second if Liverpool plummet. But still a lot of good sides left in the FA Cup and Europe is an impossibility to me at the moment, unless we can convincingly beat Juventus on Wednesday. Aesthetic Relic 301
I'm certain we'll get a guarenteed CL place for next season. As for this season there are alot of big guns who will go out at this stage as they all play each other. If we get through this round and get a favourable draw in the next then anything is possible. misschief 24
Don't think we'll win anything this season but as long as we can finish 3rd, its better than I hoped for a few weeks ago and I think we'll have to be happy with that this season. It could've been a lot worse.
Aesthetic Relic 301
it was magic http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...o.html?ITO=1490 Didnt know that.....quality stuff. This guy on the otherhand needs a hug. Taken from the comments. I love Chelseafc so so much that I mostly cry when they score some goals like the one at Villa park

I do think that it is a sort of Blessing in disguise. With Title a distant possibility, UCL and FA cup seem priority. Three months to go and our squad will be fresh. We will have Essien back, hopefully Joey Cole back by end of April, Drogba has started to play well, Carvalho will be back, Deco put in a good performance recently. We have Quaresma too. We can go for the Champion's league this year keeping the title as a lottery. Most of our full squad will be back and that excites me. Hiddink seems to have brought the belief back. Fulham Broadway 17,349
The players did seem to be wanting to play together more as a unit -group hugs before and after the game, and the desire not seen since Mourinho was there. Not going to get all excited yet though, a narrow 0-1 win against what seemed a lacklustre Villa. Can you imagine all the Doom and Gloom posts had a loss incurred ?? diskoviolente 425
I am feeling a little better because the team won against a team away they didn´t win at in 10 years. Lots of work to be done to finish this doomed season, but at least the team performed well and was as tough as iron...
Steve 10,227
I think Guss has brought an extra bit of confidence to our team that we have not seen since Jose. I know we have only played one game under him but even just before and after the games we seemed so much closer, which was great to see. We have stopped hearing these stories about our club being in shambles and how there is alot of tension in the dressing room. Hopefully it will keep the boys more focused on the games at hand and not on all the rubbish on the side. That performance in the first half was great, we had 7 shots on target which i have not seen in a long while because we normally struggle to have more than 4 or 5 shots a game as of late. If we can continue to get shots off a break defenses apart like we did i think we have a good shot at least winning 1 trophy this season. Kez 2,727
David Blaine Things are looking up... FA cup is realistic and if we win that it will be something to build on for next season
Laylabelle 9,539
I think I'll be more oooooooooooooooo after a few more games cause new manager first few games seem to go well then after that can go either way But there seemed a more togetherness on Sat then seen in a long time and a much better all round performance esp in terms of defence.1-0 result but who gives a crap?!?! We aint won 1-0 for ages in fact only one other time this season. We kept a clean sheet got the 3 points and broke the jynx at long last If we can keep that up then we have a pretty good shot and 2nd place is relastic. We've just gotta keep winning,Liverpool loose to Man you we win and volia

Dont be daft FB ....we're a level headed community and would have taken it on the chin and moved on Lol of course. Theres definitely more posters when things are going well. But yeah, back to original point -definitely more optimistic with Hiddink at the helm -the players appear to want to play , train, and respect him. Think they thought Grant was a cunt, but ''fuck it we'll do it for Mourinho'', and to be fair to Scolari there was always the language difficulty.. A good part of the squad are portuguese speaking, I dont think it was a translation problem. Riccy and co could easily have put across what he was trying to implement. We didnt do too badly with Ranieri who couldnt speak a word of English when he first arrived. As you mentioned before, it was good to see the togetherness of the squad after the game. The thing is , all the players can speak a smattering of Anglais -but the main thing is respecting the coach, and for some reason they thought Scolarii was a bit of cunt . Probably because of the tache.
BlueLion. 21,491
I'm no more confident than I was with Scolari, although Hiddink seems to have united the players. The real test is tomorrow, if we pass than then I think we have good reason for high expectation before the season is done. A month ago I'd have bitten your hand off if you offered me either the FA Cup or CL at the end of the season, I'd do the same still today.
