Manchester City's newest acquisition Wayne Bridge believes it is an exciting time to be at Eastlands.

The former Chelsea full-back was paraded by his new club on Saturday after signing a four-and-a-half year contract with the club.

However, it proved to be a miserable day for Mark Hughes' side as City bowed out of the FA Cup following a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Despite the disappointing result Bridge remains upbeat about the move and believes there are exciting times ahead for the club.

Excited

"I'm just excited to be here and when I spoke to the manager yesterday he told me of the exciting times ahead at the club," he told the club's official website.

"It's an exciting time to be at the club with what's happening here and I'm looking forward to putting the shirt on regularly and getting out there to show everyone what I can do."

Bridge is lacking match fitness due to Ashley Cole's fine form at Stamford Bridge, but the England international is hopeful of getting back in the groove in no time.

"I'm just looking forward to getting out and playing some regular football," he continued.

"I haven't played that much, so I'm aiming to play on a regular basis, get my fitness up to scratch and hopefully help the team climb the table and achieve big things."

From SkySports. Its also been confirmed on the Chelsea website today.

I'll admit I was upset, but in all fairness, its not as if we have lost Lampard or Cech or Terry or Essien - don't get me wrong, I think Wayne is a magnificent player, but he rarely played and for me it was only a matter of time before he left.
