Aesthetic Relic 301
ESPN Scolari calls team meeting at Chelsea Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari says his players have reacted with a 'positive' response to a team meeting called after Sunday's 2-2 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage. Scolari gave his players a day off yesterday but they returned to Cobham on Tuesday for the team meeting and training session after Chelsea allowed a 2-1 lead to slip in the final moments of the game against Fulham. Scolari and his players took an in-depth look at all aspects of the game as they prepared to face Southend in the FA Cup third round at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. "Before we went to training, we had a good team meeting," said Scolari. "Since Sunday I have had the chance to watch again the Fulham game and yesterday, with my players, we talked about all of that game before going out for a good training session. "Now we begin to look ahead to my first FA Cup game, against Southend, a game we must be ready for, as if we are playing a team in first, second or third position in the Premier League." There were a number of absentees from the session with Brazilian defender Alex and winger Florent Malouda, both hamstring injury victims in Sunday's 2-2 draw, out of action. However, Ricardo Carvalho, who replaced Alex on Sunday, was able to put more work in towards full fitness. This was reported on SSN, but they reported a slightly different story. They said that the meeting turned into a slanging match with loads of finger pointing. Drogba ended up goping off in a strop.
Aesthetic Relic 301
Here we go..... Chelsea players turned on Didier Drogba during a stormy meeting at the club's training ground on Tuesday, according to the Daily Mail. The paper reports that manager Luiz Felipe Scolari called the meeting to clear the air after some poor results in recent weeks and 'a full-scale slanging match developed between some of the club's star names'. Drogba had gone public with his grievances about Scolari's reluctance to pair him with Nicolas Anelka, and the Ivory Coast striker was reportedly the target of senior players' wrath. The Daily Mail goes on to report that some Chelsea players want Drogba out of the club in January because they fear he is destabilising the club. He was apparently accused of "talking b******" after claiming in the press that Chelsea did nothing for him when his grandmother died in June, pointing out that the club had actually hired a private jet to fly him home to Africa. But Chelsea are unlikely to sell Drogba in January as they have a lack of striking options, with Nicolas Anelka their only other senior striker.
