Here's How Chelsea Will Win The Title - Lampard

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has spoken about the Blues' title ambitions in bullish terms...

Chelsea are always harping on about their 'never-say-die' attitude, which has won many an ugly game, but they said 'die' at the weekend and capitulated at Craven Cottage.

Talismanic midfielder Frank Lampard stepped up to the place and hit what looked to be a match-winning brace, but Clint Dempsey was a touch more inspired and his own double grabbed a point for Fulham.

Thus, the Blues will ring in the New Year still in second place, and under increased pressure.

However, Lampard is convinced that the Stamford Bridge side can find "consistency" - something lacking in any of the title contenders so far, it must be said - and roar back into contention.

Looking ahead to the crunch clash against Manchester United on Sunday, 11 January, he told the Evening Standard : "We will go to United wanting to win that game. If we can get real consistency going, we can win the league.

"In terms of Liverpool, there's three points in it and we've got a very good squad of players.

"You can only win titles with never-say-die in your team, and that is what Chelsea are all about.

"We've had it for the last few years and we've still got it."

Lampard will know after the Fulham disappointment, though, that the Blues cannot merely talk the talk, especially while rivals Liverpool are going through the gears.

Lets hope Super Frank can inspire our squad to better things because atm we seem to have anything but never-say-die-attitude..

Is it just a coincidence that as soon as Drogba returns to the starting line-up we see Lampard returning to the scoresheet?

Drogbas abilty to hold the ball up and bring others into the game is surely going to see us get back to winning ways. Anelka prefers to play on the last man and get the ball to his feet. A totally different game altogether. With him no holding the ball up as much as Drogba we lose the threat of Lampard arriving late imo.

Absolutely, Drogba and Frank compliment each other, but lets not forget the superb form Frank hit at the beginning of the season with Anelka...Frank is absolutely right tho we do need more fight, especially at home. We should be several points ahead of Liverpoo by now, but let's hope that there convict gets suspended now and they drop some points, still think Manure are our biggest threat tho.

No doubt about it, but that is because of the sort of player Drogba is, when he can't go forward, he holds the ball up, looking for a pass, and his physical presence in the penalty area means two defenders have to watch him, whereas Nicolas Anelka would perhaps only have one player marking, and whilst it has improved, Anelka's hold-up play is nowhere near Didier's.

yeah i couldnt agree more about what you guys have said, frank and drogba alway team up really well when we go forward, if frank is not looking for drogba to play a ball through to him, drogba will be making space to and making defender mark him so frank can take a shot with no pressure. Differnce with anelka is that he always wants it too his feet which does not give frank as many options as it does with didier, so personally im really happy that he is back in our starting 11..
