The Next Manager?

Thought I'm usually the one who's all doom and gloom here but feels like others have taken it up a notch. Rather than turning this thread - and Sarri's - into 'Lampard will fail because of bla bla bla vs Lampard will succeed because of bla bla bla', how about we see what will happen and pass judgment when things have actually happened? We might fail under Lampard or we might even do well under him...who knows?! Going over the same debate every week is as dull and predictable as Sarriball last season.

we barely made top4 with sarri and hazard and now you guys expect that we will make it again?

Who are you talking to? I actually don't see anybody expecting him to make top 4, people are being rather realistic with their expectations.

we will be lucky if we get el next season

Football doesn't work as simple as that.

There's many factors to consider.

Firstly, you would imagine Kante, Kepa, Jorginho, Christensen will all be better next season which as a collective will go a fair way to making up for Hazard's loss. Secondly we have coped well without him last couple of years, 20 wins out of 21 last year in games he didn't start, yes the opponents weren't great and yes he came on and made the difference in a few of them but if we were so fucked without him we wouldn't drum up a stat like that.

Yes he will be missed and yes games will come by when we seriously miss his magic, however there's been enough sample size of playing without him the last couple of years which suggest we will not be plummeting down the league.

Nope we don't need EL again. We have just won it. Pointless competition for us. It's better to finish seventh or eighth next season and try to win title season after like Conte did without European games. All fans should not care about results next season just like our board. Lampard is here to stay for decades so first couple of seasons board won't judge him based on the results.

But United and Arsenal are not that great neither.

Lampard compare to Ole and Emery might get the best of those two.

i cant see anyone in this team who will score more than 15 goals next season. that will be our main problem. and those guys who you mentioned will not help in that department

surely el teams should not count, tier 3 teams...

How do you know that? Arsenal don't have a big budget and Auba and Lacazette aside have been pretty pants in the market for years. United throw money away at will.

They may sign players but there's no guarantee both or even either will significantly improve, infact (recent) history suggests they won't.

Yeah, I expect United to have a significantly improved side next season. Whether Olé Gunnar is up to the task of taking them to the top I don't know. Spuds will surely add to their squad this summer.

Lampard getting a Hazard-less Chelsea team with no new additions to 4th spot would be one of the most ridiculous achievements ever.

I'll be just as critical to Lampard as I was with Sarri. Nostalgic tactics from the board won't work for me.

EDIT: Also regarding what Drogba said, what is he supposed to say? Him and Lamps are best mates. He is not going to say "I don't think he's ready" to the media! What does that say about their friendship if that happens?

Nice spin from Drogba, saying "Well, when is he ever going to be ready? When he's 40/50?" No Didi! He doesn't have to be 40 or 50. What he could have done is take Derby to the PL. Show that you have this small Derby team fierce. Lamps is building a project with Derby and now he is going to abandon it. This also shows poor integrity.

we would be 10 pts behind them if not more if we would not have hazard in our team. you guys are really understimating other teams. we are pure shit without hazard. only something like 20 goals from tammy can save us. also we will play without our arguably 5-6 best players for like few months in to the season, or they wont even be in real form. their injuries are very serious.

I personally have little expectations but unlike a fair few in here I don't NEED us to win to be happy. If I see Frank bringing youth through and having a go, playing attacking football I can settle with that. It's not all about being in the CL

Derby will NOT stand in Frank Lampard's way when Chelsea offer him manager's job... and host of legends including Didier Drogba and Claude Makelele could join him at the Bridge

Whilst it's not official I'll be brutally honest - if he had no history with the club he wouldn't even be considered. Does anyone think his showing last season is good enough for Chelsea?

Let's call it what it is. Next season is a right off. Top 4 can't be expected. It's as the rumours say, he's here to boost morale and for the 'feel good factor'. Lampard will be coming to be successful, but for the more sober people not personally involved it should be obvious this is a ploy to keep the fans happy at least until the ban is over. Then we can look to our next fucking rebuild (what's that 4 in 8 years?).

Good thing for frank is that there isn't much pressure. Take it from a pessimist like me, as long as we don't finish 7th or below, frank can hold his head high.
