We need a direction change. If we can't/won't compete with the very big boys financially we need a manager who believes in hard work on the training ground and has a philosophy in place to Bridge the gap in the medium to long term, it can be done, as we have seen at Liverpool and Spurs (they may not have won nothing yet, but to be consistently in the CL and so competitive in big games with their outlay is good going). We have two big advantages over them, especially Spurs. An excellent academy/loan structure to tap into and a winning mentality running through the club from top to bottom. Arsenal on the other hand after years of Wenger's naive ultra attacking tactics, the pragmatism and tactical acumen that Allegri offers is exactly what they need to set them up on the road to recovery, it can't be underestimated the damage Wenger's done trying to cling on. It's kind of funny, the positions we are in. We were always a little jealous when Arsenal were playing attractive football. We would give Arsenal supporters shit while we were winning the trophies, but kind of wished we could play with a little more flair. I was watching Arsenal Fan TV to see who the fans wanted and they were all ofter a defensive manager. Allegri, Simeone. So, it turns out, while Arsenal supporters were giving us shit about our defensive football. Actually, they kind of wished that their club had a little more defensive pragmatism. 11Drogba

In the shorter term, for all of City's depth, Fernandinho doesn't actually have a like for like replacement. He very well could, i don't see him as a like for like replacement with fernandinho as he inst nearly as defensively capable or physical. But you are correct, if he goes anywhere its probably City, unless we get Sarri than its probably 60-40 in favour of us. Simply because he knows he will get the confidence of Sarri and moonwalk into our starting XI. Interesting decisions ahead.

Don't think he'd say something only to go. I doubt they'd fire him either. Theyve repeatedly said they want him to stay as well and now hes came out and said that I think its more than likely. I think Arsenal will go another way and appoint a young manager with little experience and let him try build the club up. It's all up in the air. We should know everything within the next 2 weeks. Arsenal have nothing stopping them from naming Arsene's successor, so their news should be out shortly.

Not as defensive as Fernandinho, but a much better passer. The last few windows have told me not to get too excited about any potential names in the transfer window. Any name I hear, I'd be better off googling "Who's a more shit version of (insert transfer rumour)"?

They have expressed their love of playing for him, and he has made them integral and valuable players. If(big if) we do hire Sarri as our manager id expect Jorginho & Koulibaly, at the very least Jorginho. Sarri would insist on it and I think Napoli believe Jorginho won't be the same player under someone else. They will collect large sums for either player, and we might be happy to pay for both. I remember about 2 years ago now we were all assuming Conte would be bringing half of Italy with him. We are still waiting laura90 and Fernando
Sideshow Luiz 2,310
Talk of Conte's departure seems to have died a bit. Considering that it has been pretty much non-stop since he signed a new deal with improved terms, but not an extension. The only people that seem to be talking about it are here in the forums, and Chelsea fan YouTube stuff. Fernando

Hes not going to leave somewhere hes finally got to resemble a working yeam. Unless of course his golden potato head has decided to sod off to warmer climates along with a couple of others copying Tibo & Eden and holding back on their contrcts angling to catch Spain too?? Superblue 6,372
There's reports coming out of Italy today that Sarri will sign a new contract with Napoli. Doesn't look like there is much out there that fills me with optimism and excitement.

It's too big 625
Sarri may stay, but it will also depend if Chelsea offer him a better contract.
Pizy 18,897
Pochettino would be unbelievable but unless we offer him the moon and the stars I don't think it's possible. We'd have to not only give him a huge budget but we'd also have to sell him on the idea that we want to change as a club. If Sarri isn't available, Allegri (who I don't believe is even an upgrade on Conte at all) and now that Tuchel are off the table I think we'd be best off just sticking with Conte for another season and hope our summer recruitment is great. There isn't a real standout candidate that I feel would do a better job. lucio, Starman60, Fernando and 1 other

Fernando 6,585
Yes that is the best thing for conte to stay. I said it all along. Change the trend of the club and future managers will notice this. Blusan Alamb and Supermonkey92

My biggest worry about that is that Conte has been so unmotivated and unenthusiastic this season. Is he going to just go through the motions again? Or would keeping him be a huge sign by the board of more longer term thinking and Conte would kick on with the sign of board confidence? If Sarri isn't happening, the only other one can be Luis Enrique. It's funny because it was almost assumed he was a 'lock' for next season and it has gone eerily quiet since. Maybe that's because he's already set up and in place once the cup final is done and dusted. Fernando
