The only thing that worries me about Simeone is his forward recruitment, unless I'm missing someone Greizman is the only real success story, the fact he signed Torres and tried to resign Falcao worries me somewhat, and his recent comments re Torres sounds similar to the constant excuses some people made for him while he was here.

Other than that this news excites me greatly, to compete with Pep and potentially José we need top brass and Diego is exactly that, plus I love the way he sets up his team, its like us under José the first time, solid defense with a lot of heart and brutally effective footy.

If he comes and makes a decent transfer window, we will be back at the right end in no time.

Actually, he hasn't had many flops.

Gimenez, Griezmann, Carrasco, Oblak, Mandzukic off the top of my head are his notable sanctions and they were all great. Only Jackson Martinez flopped epicly. The thing Simeone excels at, in my own view, he manages to bring in players directly. Lots of recent Atleti players have came back from loans or directly from the youth system and he's integrated them great. He actually sold an amazing CB in Miranda to promote Gimenez and he is great. Kranevitter and Thomas Partey have been great.

Dunno, I think Simeone would be the best choice.

The info about Simeone comes from ex-director of Marca. Him https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eduardo_Inda . And I asked a friend and he told he is reliable.

He's "reliable" as Sky Nigeria. Claimed few days ago that Hazard is close to Real Madrid for €25 million.

I'm slightly skeptical about Simeone to be honest. Yes, he has done extremely well at Atletico Madrid but it's worth noting that Simeone is Atletico Madrid and Atletico Madrid is Simeone. They fit each other perfectly like a glove to hand and because of that, Simeone is able to galvanize his players, the fans to roar on the team. Will he able to get the same kind of response from the group of players and fans that we have?

On top of that, Simeone's playing style might not be as negative as Mourinho's but as someone pointed out, he still has a tendency to be negative in the certain big matches, like in the Champions League against Real away last season and the final in Lisbon. If people were already complaining about that when we were under Mourinho, will the same fellas deal with the same approach from Simeone?

I'd happily take Simeone, probably an unpopular opinion but I admire his win at all cost mentality. Sure it's enjoyable to win games 5-0, 6-3 but if it doesn't win trophies is it really worth it? I'd happily win 1-0, 2-0 most games and win titles.

Thoughts?

more spanish and portugese speakers here than english, he'd be ok with current squad.

I thought they were ok vs madrid, they were coming on strong towards the end of the 1st leg, and in the 2nd leg too before the red card.

The Telegraph rehashing the Di Marzio line that we have a shortlist of four managers, and also making sure Sampaoli doesn't feel left out given that we've recently been more strongly linked to the other three

Sampaoli has been mentioned before. Nothing new there.
