Scored his ninth goal of the season in his side's impressive win over Lyon. They are only one point off a CL place having played a game more.

No idea if the rules recently changed about European competition & ownership were we both to qualify for the same competition.

I wondered about this as well! I think there is some rule that says that in this scenario, only one club can play in the competition, and the spot goes to whoever finished the highest in their respective league - and the other club gets dropped to Europa.

If its equal, there is a convoluted series of tiebreakers including GD.

Damn! That doesn't sound promising in the grand scheme of things. Imagine Strasbourg being a more appealing side to join in the summer.

At the end of the day, we need to do our job at the very least. Top 5 mightn't even be enough if the scenario you mentioned came to fruition.

City and Girona both played CL this season.

Rules seem to have changed slightly in July 2023.

The following article doesn't make things that clear-cut unless you have the answers yourself - The CFCB renders decisions on multi-club ownership cases for the 2023/24 UEFA club competitions | UEFA.com

Yep. United and Nice also played in same competition this season too after they come to some agreement regarding the shares.

Yes, seems like it is both true that the rules are quite clear on it, and also that there are methods to get around it based essentially on technicalities https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2025/4/1/24398332/blueco-to-put-rc-strasbourg-into-trust-should-they-qualify-for-champions-league-alongside-Chelsea

So, we can do it as long as we give up control of Strasbourg for a while, and stop doing business between the clubs while they are both in CL.

That would probably completely destroy Strasbourg's hopes for doing well though, and defeat the purpose for us from a sporting PoV (although financially very lucrative for BlueCo)

I presumed there would be some catch. We currently violate those regulations & will continue to do so unless they go ahead with acquiring a Portuguese team and send them over there.

It could be ok yet…. we may not qualify 😂

Not entirely convinced we will be 100% finishing in the CL spaces. Forest got a good win v United to consolidate their position in the top 4 and Newcastle, City, Brighton and even Fulham are in very close enough proximity to make it interesting.

Ha ha! I didn't want to tempt fate, especially considering where we were at the start of December. Our fixture against Forest on 25th May could potentially be a CL decider for all we know.

City losing Haaland works in our favour (unless Marmoush blows away teams, which isn't impossible). Newcastle are the one side that could turn out to be the surprise package on the back of their first major trophy in yonks.

We will finish 6-8th. Haven't got to worry about 4-5th.

he already scored once tonight

he has 5 goals in his last 5 and a half games, and one of those was a 21 minute cameo

More goals from open play than Haaland since joining, and the same as Salah in total. He will inevitably be their PK taker for now, so I can see him outscoring most.
