the wes 7,212
NEW Watford boss Brendan Rodgers is set to return to Stamford Bridge in a bid to capture a couple of young Chelsea starlets on loan. Rodgers will ask Blues coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to allow young striker Miroslav Stoch and winger Scott Sinclair to switch to Vicarage Road. Rodgers is also desperate to keep star striker Tommy Smith at the club after he was strongly linked with a move to Premier League new-boys Stoke. Smith, 28, has been one of Watford’s star performers this season and his departure could help the cash-strapped club balance the books. But Rodgers said: “We are like any club who have assets and we are fortunate to have a number of them. One of those is Tommy Smith and I can categorically say that I don’t want him to leave. “He is a local lad and wants to be at the club. But in the climate we face, I cannot say he will definitely stay here. "A big-money offer could come in and he could double his money elsewhere. But I want him to stay at the club.”
