You’d think Potter could at least get a tune out of his former player Footballer of the year doesn't really mean all that much...Cucurella was always going to be a 6 out of 10 player at best, on some days, he can put in a 7 out of 10 performance. That's the reason why City wanted him as a squad player...and for some reason we got desperate and ended up paying Brighton an extra 20-25 million for him. Brighton were laughing all the way to the bank. Antonio8

I do wonder who asked for this guy and why we paid so much. Did Tuchel want him / rate him and not like Chilly? robsblubot

Mudryk liked an instagram meme of Cucu refusing to pass to him, I posted it on the other page. This says a lot more how shit Potter is, instead of yelling at Cucurella watched like a clown and after subbed both off. Costa19

Yeah, player performing good or bad is one thing, but wtf is that? If it's some personal drama, it's sabotaging the team and deserves being sent to the stands for rest of season. If he was scared to pass forward, he needs some individual care in the training surely. Chelsea becoming worse version of PSG starlets friction house is one of my major fears during all transfer windows so I hope Potter or whoever else has some guts to step in asap (he didn't during the game tough, so who am I kidding?) TheHulk 2,464
Brighton managed to fuck us like no club ever fucked us before, Potter ruined our season and Cucurella is beyond any help, the only saving grace was we didn't panic and get Caicedo for 90M would've been the last straw. Leicester likely fucked us hard with Fofana as well, for even more money, unless he recovers 100% they fucked over Manure with slabhead for damn near the same amount (actually more on the t fee)

Not gonna lie about 50-60% of those clips I am not surprised he doesn’t pass it to Mudryk who is basically man marked by their wingback/fullback within touching distance and his body in a position where he cannot really isolate the player without taking extra touches. Seems vastly overanalysed but also then how many other players don’t make those passes to players? Nothing new. The ones where Mudryk has a yard or two yeah I understand the frustration but not going to make it out to be a big deal. Maybe it was also a tactical thing to try play more through the middle? We’ve seen it before with Di Matteo with Mata Hazard and Oscar coming in really really narrow and going to focus on the play going centrally. Also seen it with Sarri playing through Jorginho. Fernando 6,585
Wasn't this guy bought for wingback? If i vaguely remembered the games he played as wingback he did good. Maybe that is his only good position? Because everything else he is not good....altough I did mentioned trying him in DM to take over Kante position. I would like to see if that works. Superblue 6,372
I played left back for a few years growing up and on the ball, so long as your body position is right, it shouldn't be as difficult as it looks at the moment for Cucurella. I understand when confidence is shot you just want to be safe, but the way he is receiving the ball a lot of the time, he's closing the angle to play forward in order to add some protection over the ball. He's not trusting himself and his technique to open up his body against an opponent pressing him. Opens up his body, he creates a third angle to pass the ball (i.e. Mudryk). You do that a couple of times to beat the opponents press, it puts the onus on them suddenly to adapt. At present the way he is receiving the ball is naturally closing off the Mudryk option and the only choice is back to the centre back or sideways to the centre mid. It leaves us completely toothless on one side of the pitch. Even though he's clearly nowhere near fit at the moment, Chilwell has that natural instinct to open his body up and look forward as an option. Hopefully he gets up to speed soon because he's a much better fit for Mudryk. Not just finding him, but a willingness to push forward himself and create space and options for Mudryk higher up the pitch.
