I don't want Lukaku at Chelsea after he bottled against Italy. Buy Haaland or just play King Kai in his best position. Currently, he is in form.

But form goes out of the window after the holiday etc. Plus, Havertz will have to start the season fast for a change.

I know these are all BS rumors but am not sure if the agreeing personal terms is a foregone conclusion, assuming we get to that stage, because we'll basically be breaking the bank to sign him and god knows what demands Raiola will want to put in on the contract.

And transfer window period is the worst...

You'd assume some sort of discussion on numbers will take place though between Chelsea and Raiola before trying to broker a deal with Dortmund, otherwise it's a complete waste of time.

I think the rumours he is our number 1 target is completely true and I think the reason why there's been no movement so far is we know the cost involved to bring him in both in terms of agents/wages and transfer fee and it'll pretty much use our entire budget unless we can move some players on for reasonable prices. Therefore we're giving ourselves as much time as possible to assess the market and see whether we can make any other deals alongside Haaland.

The biggest consideration for me with the Haaland deal is I assume at some stage he'll want to play for Barca or Madrid. It's just something that is likely to have to be accepted in a similar way to Hazard.

I'm not sure whether we'd accept some form of release clause in there but if we're paying say £120 - 150m then any such clause would have to be the £200m bracket.

Even if the end game is Madrid down the line, it still wouldn't put me off him. If you got even 3, 4, 5 years out of him at a high enough level that Madrid came calling in the future, and then got your money back or more then it's worth the effort if he's fired us to some more trophies in that time.

Dusan Vlahovic 👍🏽 (IF we do not get Lewa, and obviously fail on the other big 4 names)

its either him or DCL

or stand pat for me, unless we dice roll on Jonathan David at a low price

(again that is IF we fail on the Big 5) and as like I stated, Isak is off the table now as we will NOT pay €90m for him (and he was never really a Big 5 member at all anyway, the ONLY other striker you could, perhaps toss in and make it a Big 6 is Lautaro)

btw, you forget Mbappe on your 'outside of' comment

I also disagree with you on Lukaku

if we fail on the other 4 (which is super likely) he is BY FAR the best remaining CF on the planet (that said, I do NOT see the board buying him, due to the fact we sold him before for far less)

I count Mbappe as a LWF and I worry about CF's in a purple patch in Serie A. Remember when everyone was saying Piatek would be a great signing? The kid could be great, but I have seen too many Serie A CF's crash and burn after a good 12 months or so to want to put all my eggs in their basket.

so unless we nail one of the big 5

it's DCL or roll the dice on David

or are you in for Lautaro?

pretty much much your only three options left of the ones I listed

unless you want to toss in a name of your own

convince me of another path

I think we are insane if we buy Ings, for instance, he will likely go down with another knee injury, I simply think he is fated to be fucked at the end of the day by injuries that wreck his career (and he 29yo in 2 weeks)

and there is no stand pat anymore as we are very likely selling the 2 CF's now

Giroud is gone, Tammy will follow (Tuchel really does not rate him, that is very obvious)

Broja is so not ready, nor is Soonsup-Bell (who I rate over Broja atm, but it is just not his time yet)

For the first point, I'd assume so but then again, who knows? Nothing seems to be happening and only one side is pushing all the stories - most of them BS and/or recycled BS.

As for the second point, inclined to agree but shouldn't we already know that by now? Compared to the striker position, it's easier to identify good players in other positions and we should know who to get by now, no? Unless of course, we're waiting slowly to sell the deadwoods, stock up the money and see where we stand financially.

Personally, if we don't get Håland (Kane/Lewa are never happening) then I would seriously prefer to stick Kai as the No.9 and have Tammy and Giroud as back-ups (although Giroud is obviously going.)

Tbh, I much prefer to stick to what we know than buy some second choice CF as these have always been a disaster for us. DCL is someone I rate, but when you're probably talking £80m+ to get hold of him I am out.

For me, I actually think, even if we don't get Håland this year, we could still get him next year. Barca are fecked, Real have to live within their means, PSG seem to hold no attraction to him (owing to playing in France presumably) so I also feel, if he isn't over the line we could get him next Summer. Only issue with that would be Bayern, who will obviously come to the table at that point.

The Serbian kid could be great, but as I haven't seen much of him, I won't recommend him as I only recommend players I have seen in at least 10+ full 90 minute games. Additionally, I worry about Serie A CF's as you get a lot of Piatek types.

After the idea of Haaland has been planted in my mind, going back to Lukaku would be pretty underwhelming. Yes, Rom would get us goals and is miles better than the options up front we’ve got, but Haaland is already significantly better and is still so young that he’ll only get more special.

Plus, signing Lukaku might mean Haaland goes to one of the Manchester clubs or even Liverpool (god forbid) next season and the two will be compared directly for the next 5 years which I don’t think would be favorable to Lukaku.

Really beside the point anyways since Lukaku has said he’s happy in Milan and Inter has already sold the big money player they had to.
