I dont want Kante sold cuz he still has alot to offer but if we were to sell then this is the best time no doubt

Kante is my favourite player from the current squad which you can probably tell from my username. However, he is coming up for 29, he is our highest earner, he doesn't really suit a 3 man midfield and injuries have been an issue for a year or so now.

In my opinion, the financially savvy thing to do is to sell him for £75m+. However, if he is sold then we need a excellent replacement so if that isn't happening then of course keep him.

If he does go, it will be a massive loss and who can't love the man? However, we are a transitional team and I am not sure keeping him for the last two years of his prime (if we get a £75m+ offer) is wise, all things considered.

Agreed, in an ideal world we could keep him as a horses for courses player (in other words games where we won't dictate possession and don't have to break down parked jumbo jets) but given his wages and value combined with the fact he would still get in similar level sides to ours mean it's pretty much straight forward, he's either an undisputed starter or he's sold.

The issue I have is who is actually willing to pay that much money for him? Especially right now? The fee and then his wages. The top clubs don't necessarily need him as well. PSG? Maybe but with the wages Neymar and Mbappe are on, then will they even pursue that?

He is a top player but I think this season has shown that we can cope without him and selling him would not be the worst idea if it strengthened other areas of the squad.

I reckon it will be PSG. FFP is being relaxed this coming year, they are pushing hard for the CL and he is a core member of the French team. If they do not go for him and/or we do not get a £75m+ offer then keep him. My post wasn't saying sell him at any cost.

Talking of LB's. Everytime I see Max Aarons I am impressed. Reads the game very well for someone so young. If he was in a decent PL team everyone would be raving about him.

You mean Jamal Lewis? He is Norwich LB. Aarons plays RB for Norwich. Both exciting talents.

Lampard denies he wants to sell Kanté to fund Havertz and Chilwell moves

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jun/19/frank-lampard-ngolo-kante-kai-havertz-ben-chilwell-chelsea

Frank Lampard has denied Chelsea will fund moves for Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz and Leicester’s Ben Chilwell by selling N’Golo Kanté this summer.

Chelsea are targeting Havertz and Chilwell after confirming the signings of RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech but Lampard insisted he had no intention of losing Kanté, even though the manager accepted some squad members could be sold when the transfer window opens.

Kanté, who is available to face Aston Villa on Sunday after putting aside his safety fears over coronavirus, has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season after struggling with injuries. However Lampard, who is unsure whether Pedro and Willian will agree short-term deals to the end of the season, said the 29-year-old France midfielder was in his long-term plans.

“In terms of N’Golo, I’ve seen some talk and reports about him and his future at the club,” Lampard said. “I’ve said it a lot of times about N’Golo – one of the best midfield players in the world. I would have loved to be able to play with him. He has everything.

“Coming back to Chelsea and having N’Golo Kanté is something I really want to appreciate and work with. Because of injuries it’s been tough for N’Golo. It’s nice to see him a little bit fresh. N’Golo is so important to us going forward. We need him regularly and hopefully we’ll have that now.”

technically a swap (with another player or some cash tossed in for makeweight IF needed) for Varane is not exactly a 'sale' LOLOL

To be fair, he isn't going to say anything else. If he said, 'yes he is for sale' he would have reduced Kante's value and he would've upset a lot of people as you do not do such things to Kante.

I am personally someone who thinks Kante could be sold. However, I think his market is pretty much limited to PSG coming up with £75m+ so I would say it more of a case he would be for sale for the right offer than we are 'looking to sell'.

But Lampard has praised Kante to the heavens every single time. Not sure if Lampard is the kind of manager who says one thing but does or plans to do another thing behind the scenes, unless the player himself wants to move or the club overrule the manager.
