Darren Bent: "If Chelsea get Aubameyang, get Fofana into that back three and De Jong in then they have to be [title contenders]."

That's why Gary Neville , Carragher and others specialist don't want this happen .

Bent is wrong tho. We need another world class attacker on top of that to be titel contenders.

If De Jong doesn’t happen I wonder if we go for someone else or just wait until next summer. If we’re willing to spend £70m+ on De Jong it’s clear Tuchel thinks it’s needed.

I mean we bid for Raphinha, and we didn’t try an alternative.

I think that’s why we are after De Jong. If we couldn’t improve our attack and playing style with a winger we’ll try to do so by reshaping our midfield with a more fluid player.

yes, he is giving too much weight to Auba, and also ignoring the RW/creative issues

let's just assume (a BIG assumption) that Auba is up to snuff and bangs in 15 plus league goals (more like 20+ if we are taking about wining the league, which is a huge ask from his 33yo legs, as unlike Lewa, Benz, Zlatan, etc, he always relied on being a speed merchant for his goals) I still think we need a Raphinha or a Bowen or Diaby type RW threat, or at least a creative Dembele type

DE Jong wants his duffel bag first! He wants his 17m from Uefalona, and he will not leave until he gets it. Real tried to force Bale out, but he stayed put, even though he went to Spurs (under Mourinho) on loan. But he stayed at Real, on the bench, and played some golf, and ran his contract down, and collected every single penny. He's now enjoying life in easy league, whilst collecting more cash.

Barca have some of magical voodoo over these players. It’s just unbelievable. They get incessantly pressured to lower their salary (after already doing so a couple of years ago during the lockdowns) and when they don’t the fans and media smear them.

And then after all that terrible treatment players STILL want to sign for them or re-up on drastically reduced terms. It’s mind boggling.

Dembele, but he took it in the batty crease for Barca

all of the following were just media rumours, as far as I know

a quite extensive list (bold are the only ones I think are good enough targets left)

Neymar  (and he is a LW'er anyway)
CR7
Christopher Nkunku (at least many of the rumours took into account his release clause for 2023)
Rafael Leão     (and he is a LW'er anyway)
Federico Chiesa   (still far too close to a huge injury atm to buy, but that did not stop the rumours)
Serge Gnabry
Moussa Diaby
Mikel Oyarzabal    (currently injured badly, so a no go at all)
Kingsley Coman
Leroy Sané
Jarrod Bowen
Arnaut Danjuma (whether a winger or at CF)
Wilfried Zaha
Yannick Carrasco
Yéremy Pino
Antony
Domenico Berardi
Pedro Neto
Allan Saint-Maximin
Cody Gakpo
Ismaïla Sarr
Leandro Trossard
Noni Madueke
Julian Draxler
Maxwel Cornet  grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Only players I'd want from Barcelona are the young ones who are likely considered unsellable.

the only ones on their entire roster I would take are

(and we took a swing at all but ter Stegen)

Marc-André ter Stegen
Ronald Araújo
Pedri
Frenkie de Jong
Gavi
Raphinha
Ousmane Dembélé
Ferran Torres
Robert Lewandowski

Fati is too damaged atm

pass on all the rest

Not that mind boggling.

It's probably an as exciting time time as ever to be at Barca. Xavi is the manager, with a seemingly working philosophy, and by hook or crook, he's building a competitive squad.

No player gives a shit about the fans. If that were the case, Sterling would refuse to join us.

The salary is a sticky point, but as long as Xavi and the Barca board convince him that all issues will be resolved, then why would they protest?

Frenkie de Jong's agents have told #Chelsea and Barcelona not to use intermediaries in talks. His camp remain clear that they do not intend to move. CFC#FCB#

Apparently we won't take him, he just doesn't want to move from Spain .

Leicester almost literally briefing what we’ve known now for a couple of weeks. That it’ll take us breaking Slabhead’s transfer record to sign him. Rodgers and the ITK Leicester journalists have all made it clear. It’s gone from “not for sale” to “well, if a monster offer comes in our hands are forced.”

I really hope we do it. He’s already a great player and will become one of the best in the world at Chelsea. Playing at least 1 season beside Thiago Silva will be hugely beneficial as well, especially since Silva speaks French.

The price doesn’t even feel that crazy when Maguire went for £80m. Fofana is ten times the talent that he was and is only 21.

My list would be similar with a few caveats.
Dembélé I think is just too risky (guy is a bit of a diva like Lukaku).

Lewa maybe at the right price, but *way* past his prime and a bit of a choker in CL.

De Jong at the right price, but don't see him as an upgrade for us. Same with Marc... would rather spend in the striker pos for ex.

Pedri, Ferran, and Gavi YES please!

Raphinha too, but he's just joined them.
