If we didn’t have like 16 midfielders currently on our books I’d start to get a bit excited. But this is the area of our team that is in the best shape. I find it impossible to believe that De Jong is even a consideration at this moment in time.

Kante

Kova

Jorginho

RLC

Barkley

Gilmour

Bakayoko

Gallagher

Ampadu if you wanna count him as a midfielder?

All on our books and earning big wages. How on earth could we do a deal for De Jong unless like 4 of those are gone? It makes no sense.

Could the meeting be more about reviving the Super League rather than anything else? Remember Roman didn't need the extra money and was against it but now that we have American owners? Liverpool and Man Utd owners were the kingpins of it in England

We really have not learned from all those disasters of bringing back former players. Ake is still the same 15m player we sold to Bournemouth. Him picking up another 2 pl titles by riding the city stands does not improve him at all, nor does the fact City were already foolish enough to pay 40m for him. Now they will recoup that money from a club that operates even more foolishly.

I have a feeling that this transfer window revolves entirely around  Chelsea , Barcelona , Raphinha from one way and Chelsea , Bayern , Juventus , De Ligt from another .

Even though he still has to make connections, i doubt Todd would travel to Barcelona to sell two old squad players. There have to be talks about Dest and/or FDJ. If he really pulls off FDJ for alonso, azpi + some 60m, this might go some way compensating the MDL failure. But not buying ake. that will remain unforgiveable lol

Boehly has talked about Chelsea being undervalued and the Premier League being undervalued and his investors feel that during the 10 years that they are guaranteed to own Chelsea the league and Chelsea will go very high in value. He has said the Super League will slow the growth of both Chelsea and the Premier League, which damages his investment. He also feels there would be backlash from fans and he needs the fan base to grow.
