If this was some tier 5 nobodies maybe. This was the best of the best, most reliable English journalists reporting that we’ve bid and that personal terms wouldn’t likely be an issue. And that he would be keen on the move.

Every single reporter including fabrizo uses the transfer window for more clicks more followers. Most don't know an arse from an elbow but seriously some of these post u read on here are simply damn right perfetic.

Genuinely concerning that there is a lot of overreacting over Raphinha, who is a pretty good player but again, you’d think he was Mbappe or Haaland based on the reaction that he is going to Barcelona now.

Reactions are justified when for weeks all we've had to read for was Linked with, interested in, inquiring, progressing, etc, etc and the one deal that managed to appear over the line has now fallen through.

Becoming spoiled brats now are we?

When a deal is announced it will be announced.

I mean I would of thought that people were aware that taking everything you see posted on twitter or in newspaper as gospel would always end up disappointing them.

People forget the other stuff that has been going on in the background too, everything that comes with new ownership, Marina and Cech’s departure, new board members being appointed etc. Undoubtedly these things will take time/be prioritised higher than rushing 3 big signings in the first 2 weeks of the market….

I have no doubts that when the season starts we will be much stronger and better prepared, people just need to calm down with the it’s embarrassing and other OTT toys out of pram reactions 🤣

Raphinha alternative?

Bowen, Gnabry or Antony?

Gnabry his wages are the issue.

Bowen we will want out in a years time.

Antony is a massive gamble and imo will join the list of inconsistent attackers we already have.

Fabrizio is indeed a bit over the top and sensationalist. He’s very hit or miss.

But when Ornstein and Matt Law simultaneously reported it you can pretty much treat it as fact. This wasn’t click bait.

 Forget  Raphinha

get Dembele and Sterling and we are fine .

Dembele is still a massive a risk. Just because he reignited his form during this  2nd half of the season doesn't guarantee it will translate to the Prem consistently.

And tbh given his attitude/stance towards his wage demands he poses a massive disruption. He's done nothing to warrant such demands other than visit the hospital bed.

Its not really embarrassing though is it?

And I doubt we would be bidding for Raphinha if there wasn’t any interest from his side either, clubs generally know if someone is interested in the move or not. But sometimes some deals just takes a little more persuasion than others.

There may be, but we're clearly his fallback option. That should never be the case, regardless of the player.

I'm honestly losing my mind, Ake for 45 milions are you fucking kidding me.

You missing something here: City is saying you can only take Sterling if you take Ake as well. 😉

For the record, have a mind that does not belong anywhere near a top PL club (no, not even Spurs 😅).

I don't understand how people get sucked into the same senses of insecurity every transfer window.

We're always linked to a stream of players, it's the nature of the beast. And to compound that this summer, the new ownership are having to establish links and relationships pretty much from scratch with executives of others clubs, player agents, etc. Hence why we end up with a meeting with Jorge Mendes becoming a link to Ronaldo.

We will sign players this summer but its important to sign the right players.

Regarding the Raphinha deal and whether it's made us look stupid I disagree. I believe we've been informed by Deco that his priority is Barcelona but if they can't buy him this summer then we would be his second choice. The club has taken a chance and rolled the dice on this deal to see if they could push it through and if it doesn't work then so be it. I'd rather that bold approach and proactive effort to get a deal done that they want, rather than just monitoring the situation. Pretty sure the old ownership would have waited until later in the window to see if Barca would do anything and looked to swoop in late when a deal might be able to be done.

Let's also note that so far all of this Raphinha news has come from one Barca source (Gerard Romero). I've no idea how reliable he is, or if he is a mouthpiece for the club. He's currently suggesting Leeds are willing to accept a bid in instalments of €60m which seems to still be a fair drop from the total deal we've proposed to Leeds. However also tonight, he is also reporting that Dembele is likely to renew and Barca are confident of doing a deal for Kounde for €45m (bearing in mind all the talk last summer and now this one has been at least €60-70m when we've been linked with Kounde). Other reports regarding Barca suggest that this influx of money yesterday was just to cover the financial year, register their free signings, etc. Until I see something concrete, i.e. they actually agree a fee with a club, sign and register the player, etc I'm very sceptical about their position. If we'd have been given as firm a 'no' as is being reported from Barcelona's end then I don't think (1) a bid would have been made, and (2) a bid would certainly have been taken off the table by now.

From my understanding Dembele wants 11-12m basically his current wages, Barca are offering 6m. On a free transfer i am willing to pay those wages, although maybe somewhere around 9m would be enough. Also consider Werner getting 14.5m, so getting rid of him more than pays itself.
