Again, just do with Josh and Hato what Barca did with Cubarsi. Both top talents. Put them straight in the fire. Yes, they will make mistakes but in a year they'll be 80m worth players, basically where is Colwill now. If we get now expensive CB what happens with them and when Colwill is back?

Are people just forgetting Anselmino is here and fit?

There was a lot of promise surrounding him prior to signing, so why not use him?

Sounds nice for sure. That would be great if it happened.

But the difference between us and Barca is that in La Liga they’re vastly superior to every opponent they play every week except for 1 or 2. They can afford to bed in younger players and still don’t really have to worry about finishing any lower than 3rd every season.

We go into the season with some learner drivers in defense who are making a bunch of mistakes as they develop could see us finishing like 7th or something.

For Barca, UCL football is never really under threat.

3 goals in the Championship, Omari had more and went for less. Bournemouth always buying players from Liverpool for inflated prices.

That is more down to us then for selling him for a lower fee and not holding out for more. I thought we sold him on the cheap considering the season he had in the Championship and his potential, however we included a sell-on clause. With Doak, however his injury was cut short, however you would see how highly Middlesbrough fans rated him and some thought he was the best player in the league itself. £25m for a good British talent from a major club is not a lot these days. He has a lot of potential, assuming he stays fit and Bournemouth have a lot of money spend after their outgoings.

If he's the real deal, why not? But I think Josh and Hato are especially world class potential. Last thing we want is someone like City take Josh and we have another KDB situation.

Not saying they should start every game but there's definitely a place. We still have experienced players in Tosin and Chalobah. Imagine Fofana will start soon when ready. Regarding Barca yes valid points but still it's possible. Lewis situation in City is similar.

These are the little things that worry me. Manager wants one thing. Club seemingly has sometbing else in mind.

When they refused to reinforce in the winter window, we struggled. In the end, top 4 was secured after the late season comeback.

I understand the club's predicament in this case though. A new CB was probably not in their minds. Especially if they're banking on the likes of Badiashile and Fofana to reach top levels.

Also, Veiga is still a Chelsea player...and a talented young CB....but for whatever reason, he won't play for the club again.

Maresca isn't forgetting him and Maresca wants a new CB. This tells us something.

Whether that something is a judgement on Aaron's level of play or his level of experience is a matter for speculation but I'm disappointed that Enso has gone public with his frustration. I know he's a pretty straight talking bloke, but I don't see what good it does to cast doubt on his existing players and on his relationship with the board.

I doubt Aaron was signed to be thrown into the first team....seemed more like a loan/develop opportunity at the time.

Josh is likely to get minutes as the backup defender this season, I don't see Aaron playing much, maybe in an early round cup game here and there.

I don't mind Maresca giving his thoughts because getting Simons/Garnacho won't be as big a game changer as having a quality CB lead the defense.   Colwill getting that injury is horrible timing.

As per Plettigoal on twitter:

[@Plettigoal] Piero Hincapié has a release clause in his contract, valid this summer. Been told the clause is worth around €60m for the 23-y/o top centre-back

It would be awesome if we could get him, seems like Spurs are super keen on him.

Was not impressed with him

Inacio ticks most boxes as replacement for Colwill. Current release clause £51m.not cheap but about same as we could get for a couple of "bomb squad members.

He is not a £50m plus CB IMHO. No CB in that weak Portugal league is, atm.

£35-40m is fine.

We signed him more than one year ago. Was already out on loan and since January he has been with the team, 8 months now. It's worrying if he is still not considered to be in rotation.

This implies that you think Maresca going public could have the desired effect and cause the board to do as he asks.  I'm not convinced.

That's not to say that the board might not move for a centre back in the market, but I do think it makes it less likely. Why would they want to be seen to reward foot stamping? Especially since, in this case, the board's decision will be made by two directors who are specifically employed for their footballing knowledge. They would both have to accept their decision being overturned by the manager's opinion. If that can happen then what's the point of them?

The only way to redeem this situation in my mind is to imagine that this is some kind of choreographed routine they have dragged up between them. A routine concocted to give cover to the SDs if they reopen negotiations for a player having previously walked away because of the price. The trouble with that scenario is that it makes their negotiating position even tougher than it would already have been if they had just gone back to the table on their own initiative.

I joked about it right after Levi went down but I do seriously wonder now if bringing back Thiago Silva for 1 season is viable.

He’d have more protection and a much better team in front of him now than he did last spell so you’d expect him to have much less of a burden on him.

May sound silly but I would at least ask him if I were the club.

Fair point but has he been mentioned at all by Maresca?

As I said, I would be surprised to see Aaron getting serious minutes this season.
