Because I was pushing to buy him as a youth target from Reims (and got a little stck here way back when he struggled a tad at PSG)

and because I do like his play

I think I have some gravitas and weight to say that I am gobsmacked that Hugo Ekitike has a 100m euro price tag

he is not yet, IMHO a 100m euro striker

not sure IF he will ever be that

it all seems a crazy expensive and massive gamble, at least to me

just my tuppence..............................

It will be a massive step backwards for our club if we end up splashing on Ekitike, hopefully he prefers Liverpool.

  • Myles Lewis-Skelly to Real Madrid? The youngster has still not signed a new contract with the Gunners. Full Story here!

I am pretty sure he will sign a new contract. But like Sane, Gnabry and a lot of players do, they us interest from other teams to get offered higher wages from their current club. I would be shocked if he does not extend. Probably wants around £100k+ a week.

some rumours about guehi again

Will be the boring option for the Defense. We need to have a summer of signing the best available CB/LW. Especially after we’ve gone with a punt pick in Liam Delap.

There are loads of CBs I’d take over Guehi

he is not the worst option for CB but he is not the best. He is in the middle, tbh

I’m not even sure Guehi is an obvious upgrade on Trev or Tosin. He’s just a solid CB just like those two are, nothing special. He’s doesn’t have any real upside and isn’t going to be getting better than he is now.

Whereas someone like Branthwaite is solid now but should only get better. Much higher ceiling than Guehi. He looks like he can become a physically dominant CB like we need.

Guehi is fine I suppose, very unambitious though for one of our weakest positions, and our scouts have a terrible track record of scouting CBs so I would still have question marks about his ability to adapt to a possession based team. Its a lot easier to impress for Palace - Chalobah also looked solid there.

If we do a Guehi we have to sell Colwill and rebuild the whole CB pairing, if we're sticking with Colwill we need an insanely elite CB to carry him defensively (strong, tall, fast, intelligent, experienced).

Guehi is an upgrade on Tosin, Badi and Disaster. Depending on the situation he is also an upgrade on Trev (depends on how many long balls we have to deal with.)

However, their are quite a lot of rumours internally at Palace that they're close to a gentleman's agreement he stays this year and goes with their blessings on a free next year. They really don't want to lose him this year owing to being in the Europa and needing to build their squad out. It may change if they can get some of their other targets or agree to some other players as a package for him.

Think some of you are underrating Guehi.

He’s a step above any CB we have and ideally a good partner for Colwill.

Not sure he is better than a fully fit Fofana but in terms of our CBs that actually play then yeah, agreed he is better

I just don't think he's good enough to carry Colwill tbh.

No wonder we will never match PSG project, they going for top players, top talents meanwhile were going for average pubs like Guehi.

I'm pretty sure Maresca is directing this transfer no way they would go for him otherwise, same with Delap, after watching him with KDH I wouldn't let this guy have a single say in transfers.
