Sesko looks extremely talented and could become great at Arse but I’d actually be pretty relieved if they sign him instead of Gyokeres. Sesko looks to me to be more of a risk whereas Gyokeres feels like he’d seamlessly slot in to a Arse/Chelsea/Liverpool and hit the ground running.

If Arse do indeed go for Sesko though I wonder where that leaves Gyokeres in terms of options. The usual big boys Madrid, Barca, and Bayern don’t need a #9. The big Italian sides are usually broke. City have Haaland.

Suppose there’s an outside chance United pull a Casemiro/Di Maria/Varane and massively shell out for a superstar when nobody expected it. But that’s exactly what got them into the mess they’re in now. Handing players monster wages.

Need now the new World Cup of clubs, which looks very nice.

And the newly revived FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

The only major post WWII European-wide club trophies we cannot get are the old defunct Intertoto Cup and the old defunct Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

If you really want to get into the weeds in terms of 'global club champions' then there were 3 other tournaments contested post WWII. All 3 are the subjects of much controversy, especial in Brasil, but also (in terms of the Small World Cup) with Real Madrid, Barca, and the Colombian side Millonarios (all 3, plus the Brasilian winners claim world clup titles).

1. Copa Rio (held twice, 1951 and 1952, with Palmeiras in 1951 and Fluminense in 1952 winning it)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copa_Rio_(international_tournament)

2. Torneio Octogonal Rivadavia Correa Meyer (held once, 1953, won by Vasco da Gama)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torneio_Octogonal_Rivadavia_Correa_Meyer

3. The Small World Cup

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_Club_World_Cup

The Small World Cup (Spanish: Pequeña Copa del Mundo) was a football tournament held in Venezuela between 1952 and 1975 (with some journalists considering 1952–57 the period of greatest relevance, and the second period that took place between 1963 and 1975 as of minor relevance).

snip

There were 2 even more obscure post WWII attempts at a world club championship:

1. The (mainly 1953 and 1954 are of import, but there were 4 other later editions: 1969, 1970, 1971, and 1978) Montevideo Cup

https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copa_Montevideo

And finally....

2. The Taça Charles Miller, held in 1955 in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo

Wydad Casablanca

I only saw the Esperance links to him

Btw, I  REALLY wanted Raja Casablanca to beat Bayern in the 2013 FIFA World Club Cup final!

Would have helped remove the disgrace of our shameful 2012 FWCC final defeat to Corinthians, grrrrr.

It's been discussed wheter we should buy Sancho, sell Madueke, but didn't see anyone mention the possibility of offloading Neto. Are you all happy with him? I feel Jadon, Noni, Palmer and hopefully Estevao all have something to offer that other players cannot. Neto's skillset is too simple, no end product, no good against solid defence. He is 25, a player who makes a living with his pace but has a solid injury history, I don't feel his ceiling is any more higher.

If you’re Ekitike, why would you even want to come to Chelsea after seeing us sign Delap and already have Jackson here? It makes little sense from either our perspective or his.

This guy joined a team which had Messi, Mbappe, Neymar and Icardi. Up to challanges perhaps?

And did nothing there despite no one wanting to play CF. That isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.

It's frustrating seeing us go all in for someone who has done very little to warrant such interest. If the board watched Frankfurt, did they not see Marmoush carry the team offensively for months?

Yeah, and that worked out terribly for him and it felt like he was there for 5 minutes. Don't know if he wants a repeat of that scenario.

I see two options that could emerge soon. Liverpool have not yet signed a striker and will replace Darwin. It could be that they go to Gyokeres

Barca want a striker too but are not yet committing to signing players due to their finances.

Yeah, those two make sense. He goes to Liverpool and they may dominate the league like Pep did for a few years so hopefully it’s not there.

Barca would be picture perfect for them but as you say who knows if they can make it work financially.

I do not think they have enough Dinner Ladies left to sack to pull that off.

Stylistically he's closer to Isak and can also play off the main striker
