mkh 585
Gregor Kobel and Chelsea are in close contact – the transfer poker is gaining momentum. If Dortmund misses out on the Champions League, a departure is even more likely. For a transfer fee of around €60million, they are ready to listen. Maresca wants to sign a new winger because there are questions about where he sees Madueke and Sancho in his plans for the future. One name who has been on their radar for a while is Jamie Gittens." MoroccanBlue 5,381
BILD is nonsense. Ben Jacobs just said our interest in Kobel was horseshit and no doubt Gittens/Carney swap where we get completely shafted isn’t true either. Reddish-Blue

If he really wanted to play here he'd have made it happen already. He has only been able to get that money because Napoli were over a barrel and gave it to him thinking it would just be for a few months before he gets sold and they'd get that money back in profit as securing him on a contract would put them in a better negotiating position - boy were they wrong. The only other people offering it are Saudi, where he will almost definitely end up given his only interest is money - although I imagine he will see out his Napoli contract as that is the most profitable route (then he can also charge a club a huge sign on fee in lieu of the transfer fee to Napoli). Assuming he can resist Napoli's attempts to force him out which might be difficult as clubs can make players lives pretty miserable if they want to. Curious if salaries in football are going to decline over time given our new wage structure and Man Utd are also in no situation to be offering out big money anymore - there were really only a handful of clubs able to pay huge salaries and most of them have either had to stop or chosen to stop in recent years. Pizy 18,903
18 hours ago, Vesper said: Alexander Isak Lautaro Martinez Viktor Gyökeres Victor Osimhen PICK ONE AND BUY HIM do not care which one but BUY ONE These are all strikers who will be after £250k per week or more. I think the days of Chelsea paying these kinds of wages for new signings are over under these owners. High transfer fees are no issue with Clearlake as we’ve seen. If Roman still owned the club then Osimhen would 100% be a Chelsea player. We’d probably go and get Alisson or Ederson as our new keeper as well. This ownership will pay huge fees for players (Caicedo, Enzo, Lavia, all these expensive teenagers etc) but ONLY if they will accept modest wages relative to those transfer fees. Like if Osimhen could be had for 75m + £150k per week I think they’d do it. But he apparently wants double that from a PL club. Isak is impossible for under £150m most likely. Lautaro is their talisman and is probably unloveable as well. He’s also surely on massive wages or would be in order to move. Gyokeres is probably only possible if we finish in the UCL AND if Arsenal/Liverpool/whoever else don’t go for him. So with all that in mind, that leaves us with gambling on a much lesser striker and hoping they develop.
Blue Armour 4,439
Yeah, the current owners will prefer low-balling the player with low wages and putting them on long-term contracts, just like the Chicago Bulls did with Scottie Pippen.
