We bought Casadei, because that was the only way to get rid of Lukaku wages. He only wanted Inter and they didn’t want to pay anything. We picked a talented youngster to give them some money so they can give some of it back as a loan fee. One of these modern deals.

City really are reminding me of our 2023 January window. Getting someone new every day. Hope it doesn’t work for them either.

Maresca didn't want KDH even though he coached him at Leicester?

The only reason Tosin was signed was because he was an ex-City academy player (he had an offer from Newcastle which he declined once he spoke to Maresca)...similar reason to why Sancho was signed (ex-City academy player).

Can't even get what we paid for him.

Will be the same for Kellyman (that random youngster we signed from Villa for FFP purposes) in 1-2 years time when he's sold to a Championship club for 500k + "future sell on clauses".

City are what we wish we were. We have been saying that for years and it’s true.

Their first bad patch in a decade and they go out and buy 4 serious players.

Look at us.. absolute shambles of a club. If we don’t get a striker or CB and bring back one of our midfielders in this window.. im done supporting this board. Time to start seeing the situation for what it is, a complete and utter disgrace of ownership.

Very different situation though, they are facing a situation more like what we faced at the end of the Drogba/Terry/Lampard era, where we had an insane squad that just happened to all be old 'all of a sudden'. We've got a very promising young team that is just supposed to get better. There situation cannot be ignored and it cannot be hoped that it will improve - without intervention, they are guaranteed to continue to seriously deteriorate. I'm sure they knew this was coming but thought they had another season or so.

That said I don't disagree that we should be trying to bring in some elite players into the XI asap, just think City's situation was actually far more desperate than ours. January not the best window for that but still, at least 1 - any elite striker or CB we can get ahold of.

City’s ownership have looked at the current situation they’re in and have literally said “no, we refuse to let ourselves finish outside of the UCL places this year” and are taking immediate, aggressive action to ensure they don’t. They’ve completely refreshed their team in the span of a couple of weeks and are now reportedly after a new midfielder which they badly need.

Seriously, how embarrassing is it that City, who have the best #9 on the planet already, have gone out and spent €80m on his fucking backup whilst we have only Nico Jackson who has missed 50 chances in the last month and there’s not even a peep about us pursuing a striker?

It’s simple, City’s club ethos in the market is about not only the future, but the here and now. Ours on the other hand under this new regime is obsessing almost solely on what we could be 5 years from now. We need to stop targeting all these raw, unproven teenagers and start bringing in elite, experienced quality.

Not to defend them but what do you want them to do now when they wasted all their load on garbage talents and shit players with only a few hits, we have fair play regulations on our back now, were pretty much fucked.

The PSR report or whatever came out the other day and we were apparently comfortably compliant. I don’t think we’re in any fair play danger at all.

I don’t think spending will be an issue for us and the players were being linked with proves that because they’d all be very expensive. They’re just the wrong players!

How did Chelsea stay compliant with PSR?

AC Milan have made an offer to Chelsea to sign João Félix on loan for the rest of the season.

We will not get what we paid for either Felix or Casadei because they aren’t worth what we paid. Simple as that… folk were creaming themselves over the Felix signing for the price we got him at, fuck me we cannot even break even on him now hes effectively up for sale. Great deal….

We paid £16.9m for Casadei.

He is absolutely worth at least that.

He just turned 22yo 8 days ago, so is still young, and will kick on with the right club, IMHO

In May 2023, he was included in the Italian squad that took part in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina. Having helped Italy reach the final, as the Azzurrini eventually lost to Uruguay, he received both the Golden Ball and the Golden Boot awards, as the most valuable player and the top scorer of the tournament with 7 goals.

Means nothing given it is clear he has no immediate or long term future by the looks of Maresca’s comments and Italian club’s are reportedly offering just above half of what we paid for him in loan to buy/option to buy deals.

Maybe he still has a bright future but not here and it is increasingly likely we will take a loss, like with many, although a future sell on fee is a very good move.
