The issue is neither are/were upgrades right then, which doesn't help us at the current point in time. I'd don't expect the club to shy away from their "project", so expect more teens to come. Like yo said, all shite. The main thing this team misses as well as a top striker, keeper and CB is leadership, young kids don't bring that, people like Tiago Silva do and we need more of those type of dressing room and pitch leaders. bigbluewillie and LAM09 1

mkh 601
Mainoo and Manchester United are far apart in negotiations with Mainoo wanting around £200,000 a week. United may decide it’s better to cash in now or the Summer. Chelsea leading the race. (@ChrisWheelerDM) bigbluewillie

Looks a bit like he has regressed slightly (although young inexperienced player who is playing in a struggling team - always inevitable) but I do rate him. Whether we need him or not is another question, he isn’t the most combative and we definitely need someone more of that ilk incase Caicedo gets injured/suspended given Lavia’s fitness. Guehi would be a good additional IMO. Looked like he had really kicked on last season as well as his performances at the Euros. Price is going to be difficult. If it’s over £40-45m, walk away. Pizy 18,942
Even if Mainoo was available, why the fuck would we even consider him? We’ve got Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia, and Santos. Even accounting for Lavia’s injuries were well stocked in CM. What a silly rumor. Vesper, bigbluewillie and Mhsc 2

We need a top class CB, yes, but it’s not a desperate, dire need immediately. Hm, to me it is by far our weakest position - only a couple of teams have scored more goals than us, even AFTER the goal drought from the last few games, but all season we've been conceding more than the other teams at the top of the table. Being a team that is a nightmare to score against would take us to a different level almost immediately imo.

Massively overhyped too early. There were United fans on RedCafe asking if he was a £100m player, ffs! 🤦♂️ Vesper

Something he obviously wouldn’t be doing here if we bought him. I’m sure for a top talent it isn’t a huge deal to play either side, but again for massive money it’s still a risk throwing a guy in at a position that will take some getting used to. Anyway, it’s kind of concerning that we aren’t really hearing any substantial rumors about a forward. For me that’s even more important than a Cab in the immediate term. Yes our defense can look shaky but by repeatedly failing to kill games off by missing chance after chance up front we basically invite massive pressure at the other end. If we had a clinical killer in front of goal during this awful run of games we’d have been out of sight and cruising and our defense is comfortable. This is why it is tricky to use “better” or “worse” without qualifiers. trev is quicker than Tosin, which is more valuable in high D lines than aerial dominance. So, if that’s the goal, trev would prob do a better job than Tosin. whether trev is good enough long run is a diff story.
