lol, Fulham are demanding €105m (£90m) for a 28yo DMF, João Palhinha

bonkers

Defensively - he is the best statistically out of Caceido, Rice, etc.

So... maybe they are banking on that.

youth league football doesn't carry that much weight with me

some, but it is nothing like topflight, let alone the monster EPL

in the first half of last season, he played (league game starts) for Monaco at RCB twice in the league, both times in a back 5 (and in one of those he switched to LCB later on in the game), all his other starts were at LCB (usually in back 4), except for 1 at middle CB

in his 5 Europa league games he was LCB twice and middle CB 3 times, never at RCB

in his 10 starts for us he never played on the right, was mostly (8 times) at LCB, and then twice in the middle CB slot, in the 11th game, he was  late sub at LCB

the season before

6 Europa League games ( 5 starts and then a half game as a sub at LCB), 4 at LCB, 2 in the middle

4 CL games, 4 starts (including one where he played the full 120 minutes), all at LCB

and in 24 league games  all were at LCB except for 2, where he played in the middle CB in back 5

bottom line:

he is NOT a viable RCB, especially for the EPL level of play

Nah think you are writing it off far too early. You’ve provided several examples of Badiashile playing three positions during his time with the Monaco senior team which emphasis his comfort level in playing different  sides. He’s a player much like Rudiger where he has a good understanding on how to play on the inverted side.

Rather we see how preseason fairs before we even contemplate spending money on another CB.

Why not have Strasbourg buy him.

If he performs well this season he would become more expensive.

I think several reasons. If they sell him after a season or two, the profit counts toward Chelsea’s FFP.

If he turns out to have some quality, it is easier to bring him here.

Strasbourg had a total budget of €15m for transfers last year and have already bought a €30m player. Owners are trying to build up the club but are a bit hand cuffed by FFP at Strasbourg.

Palinha is a pure, 100% destroyer. Not much else to his game. Watch his YouTube highlights and it’s like watching a dude who wants to go out on the pitch and kick everyone’s ass. It’s actually kind of amusing. Good player, though.

As for Kimmich, the only place I can ever see him going if he left Bayern (which I doubt he ever does) is Barca. Or if they can’t afford him he’d reunite with Pep. He’d be pretty redundant with Enzo here even if he were open to coming here.

come on now

that is borderline sophistry

he almost never played RCB the last 2 years, never with us, and a game and a half with Monaco

a game and half in 2 years is hardly showing he is a viable RCB

if he was 5 years younger and around £40m (Fulham only paid £17m for him so that would be an almost 250 per cent profit in one year!)

then hell yes, count me in, as he would be a sort of a poundland Ugarte style crusher, way bigger but a bit less skilful

but 90m quid for a 28yo DMF?!? hell no

(with a few exceptions, we all know what happens to destroyer type DMFs once they hit the wrong side of 30)

these are the top 25 (valuation-wise) DMFs over 30

they crater

only FOUR on the planet are valued over £10m, and only ONE on the list would make our club (Casemiro)

and some of these are not even destroyer types (Jorginho for one, Busquets for another, etc)

I mean people are laughing at that video of Havertz almost as if they did not watch him here for the best part of 2 and a bit season or he was much better than that. Is anybody surprised? The attempts at the targets, the control etc etc…

There is this weird thing on here for jumping on videos of ex players at other clubs doing things that they did here for yonks. Its really strange 🤣
