Love to see Enzo sorted out but can't see it this window. If we try for the summer on a pre agreement does that work differently in any way for ffp? Is it a different financial year? Does it even work like that

Gusto would be a fantastic signing. Get him and we have both fullback spots set for years and years. We’d be able to rotate those positions and survive injuries with very little, if any drop off.

Getting him in in January would also be hugely beneficial to us. As with the rest of the Jan signings he’ll get half a season to get settled with no real pressure on him due to the position we’re in. And most importantly he would ensure that we don’t have to rush Reece back in.

Really hope it gets done. Much smarter than paying huge money for Dumfries.

FFP is accounted over a rolling three year period.

Gives us the option of playing James in midfield.

Or at CB, or on the bench or even on the beach. A quality RB is a massive addition for our squad.

Is Malo that bloke? Can't say I know but I like the attributes on display in his YouTube highlights.

So going for him now or summer makes no odds then

It depends on how things were, FFP wise, in the 2020/21 season. That season is included in this year's FFP calculation, but drops off the books for next year's reckoning. If it was a year in which we had an FFP deficit, then it dropping off the books is helpful. If, however, we had a surplus that year then it dropping off the books is not helpful. I don't know how the books finished up then, but the income was pretty healthy that year thanks in no small part to an enjoyable evening in Oporto. 🙂

If the 2020 summer is included in that though, that's when we bought Werner, Havertz, Ziyech, Chilwell, Mendy etc and didn't really make any big sales if I remember rightly. It was more so players being moved on at end of contracts like Willian and Pedro so I would assume transfers wise that summer may have been a big deficit. May just depend on how everything falls into which assessment period, etc.
