Vesper 31,050
Fabrizio Romano's Daily Briefing BREAKING: Cristiano Ronaldo receives CRAZY €200m per season offer - details on club, length of contract, and more https://caughtoffside.substack.com/p/breaking-cristiano-ronaldo-receives Cristiano Ronaldo is available on a free transfer, something really incredible on the market. Bayern Munich stated in the last 24 hours that they would not be signing Ronaldo. Newcastle are also not planning on going for Ronaldo, so we have to see what happens. Ronaldo is 100% focused on the World Cup with Portugal. But, things are happening behind the scenes with the situation of Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes. I can now confirm what has been reported that Al Nassr have made a crazy proposal to sign Ronaldo. The proposal is a concrete, written offer until June 2025. Two and a half year deal for Ronaldo is going to be discussed. It’s now up to Ronaldo to decide the potential length of the contract. It’s true, the proposal is around €200m per season. This is not a new proposal. Al Nassr made an important bid for Ronaldo during the summer transfer window, but he refused the offer. They were interested before his contract was terminated with Manchester United. Now, Al Nassr are back, with Ronaldo now a free agent. The offer isn’t just offering him a salary of €200m a year. Part of this offer is sponsors, merchandise agreements etc. It is not yet a done deal or agreed by Ronaldo as I’m told that people close to the 37-year-old are trying to understand the full details around the sponsorship and image rights. Ronaldo isn’t just a fantastic player but he has many contracts outside of football so his lawyers are weighing up whether everything matches together. Ronaldo will discuss this proposal after the World Cup and decide once the tournament is over. It’s also important to see if a European or Champions League club join the race to try and hijack the deal. But yes, Al Nassr want Ronaldo and they know they have a chance after offering a crazy proposal. We will now wait to hear about Ronaldo’s decision. I think if someone came in and offered them upwards of £70m they'd consider taking it.

milka 3,407
"There are some people at #Chelsea who think Cristiano Ronaldo would be a great signing. He’s obviously a massive name who would create buzz, headlines, shirt sales." From a commercial point of view, Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the only players in the world who gives you that reach and target audience that a club like #Chelsea are looking for." True, but at €15M it's not the worst of gambles either, assuming the club can afford it and it has no effect on the more immediate first team concerns. With Chukwuemeka, Casadei, Hutchinson, Slonina already in and that Brazilian guy as well as possibly Zakharyan also thrown into the mix we'll have invested quite heavily on teenagers since Boehly-Clearlake took over. Not all of them will make it of course, but these days if even one of them becomes a first team regular and another is maybe good enough for a backup squad role, it will already have been a very decent investment. We shouldn’t sign any young player from one of the biggest football nation because Nathan and Kenedy signing(8-10 years ago) hasn’t worked out? Different player, different person, different story. No point to see patterns behind this. Like, don’t signing Diego Costa because our previous Spanish striker(Torres) didn’t succeed.

Stockpiling can work but I don't trust the judgement of Boehly-Clearlake's data guys yet. The senior players they've signed look way off being decent - Koulibaly, Cucurella

If anything it looks like Neil Bath has been given a free reign to make the youth signings and he's the main man behind these deals, he's been at the club for decades and recently got promoted to a new 'Director of Football Development & Operations' role that includes both academy responsibilities as well as involvement in some first team matters. It's always going to be a question of judgement. Sign good players and all will be fine. Sign bad players and there will be trouble ahead. After watching a single youtube highlight video I felt, and said, that both Nathan and Kenedy were no hopers. In fact, with Kenedy I remember saying that it's sometimes difficult to judge a young player but that in his case it was easy to see that he lacked the quality required. Those decisions were obviously bad ones but that doesn't mean they all have to be. A few years ago my older daughter asked me why I watch videos of potential signings. I told her it was because I like to have an opinion. I'm looking forward to watching videos and forming an opinion about Santos. OhForAGreavsie 6,125
I just watched the highlight video below of Andrey Santos. I really like what is shown there. Sometimes you can dismiss a player on his highlight videos alone but that's not the case with this lad. In fact, this video is very encouraging. I'd label it, "Talent Under Regulation". I hate flicks and tricks type players. On the evidence of this video Santos has high level technical ability, uses it when he needs it, then has the football brain to see the next simple but effective option. This video 100% encourages me to move on to phase two of the assessment process, all touches videos.

I support this strategy because it has the potential to set us up well for the future if players are given a chance to thrive here, unlike in the past. 7 hours ago, nyikolajevics said: So? The talent in Brazil isn't what it once was and it's much harder to find talent. There's a reason almost every big club is after Endrick. 3 hours ago, OhForAGreavsie said: It's always going to be a question of judgement. Sign good players and all will be fine.
