Sometimes I feel like world's economy turned to monopoly money when I wasn't looking.

100 million was an uncrossable line a while ago, now players who I need to google are worth 80+ and I'm having a hard time believing that the matchday income and TV rights are balancing it, when most of people's buying power only goes down.

To go back the Henrique’s post that lacks any knowledge of Chelsea’s owner, Todd Boehly. Boehly bought the LA Sparks which is a terrible investment in of itself, but he knew that a LA based WNBA team had secondary value in media rights to the LA area, and he has done very well with his eight year ownership. Yes, this billionaire is a sports fanatic, he wants in on any iconic sports team he can, and will find a way to make it profitable while spending outrageous money to make the team stay at the top.

As to Henrique’s quip that the American owner has probably never watch a “soccer” game before Chelsea…. Really such a wiff! After finishing his four year degree in Virginia Boehly attended London School of Economics and the worked in London for Citi Bank. While doing both his friends described Boehly as football obsessed. It is the major reason he attempted to buy Chelsea in 2019 and attempted to buy the Spurs. He has always wanted to own a London football team because he is an obsessed fan of football. All the Chelsea coaches and staff say the same thing he is passionate about it.

So yes Henrique, that American owner has watched a game of “soccer”.
