Will be frustrating to lose out on Kounde to Barcelona if we're indeed after him but we could have tied this deal up if we wanted to weeks ago. He clearly wasn't a priority for Tuchel and the board, but does pose question marks over what now if he doesn't come.

I honestly feel like we can’t afford to miss out on Koundé now. He’s the best available for that RCB position. If it takes €65m so be it. We need to beat Barca to this signing.

I agree. I'm not sure if Koundé is worth 65m€ as I haven't watched him enough but the club have been after him a long time now it would be kind of stupid to miss out on him now. At the beginning of the summer we had a free run on Koundé and Barcelona wasn't even remotely in the picture, back then it would have been the easiest transfer to complete with the player desperate to join since last year and most of the negotiations between clubs already done last year so the price was more or less fixed too (even though Marina isn't in the picture anymore).

Boehly and Tuchel decided to target De Ligt / Aké instead and are now only after Koundé when other targets failed so if they miss out on Koundé as well, it's definitely not a good look.

Convert to back 4

I think this is what will likely happen if the club miss out on both Koundé and Kimpembe. Or they refuse Azpi's move and he will fill out the fifth CB position (KK, Silva, Chalobah, Colwill, Azpi).

If Nkunku repeats last season's output in 22/23 our chances of getting him will be virtually non existent. We'd have to do something spectacular like win the Champions League to even put ourselves in the frame. The usual suspects will all be in for him and one of them will get him.

The harsh reality, unfortunately.

The same could probably be said about Gvardiol too, unless we manage to get some agreement in place.

and where is brokeelona getting all this dosh from all of a sudden?

They're selling a percentage of their future revenue to a third party for a quick cash injection.

At the beginning of July they already sold 10% of their La Liga broadcasting rights for the next 25 years for €207.5M and now they're selling more to another company at a similar rate. It's a terrible deal for them because even at current values they're losing a ton of money and if/when the broadcasting deal values eventually go up in price with every contract renewal they'll stand to lose even more.

Not that their club leaders care about what happens 10-25 years from now, they're all about making a flashy impact right now so they get re-elected and when their term is over their successors are left to deal with the fallout. I'm pretty sure the Barca leaders are still banking on the Super League being a thing in the future and that's why they're doing this now. If the ESL happens, the club would probably give less than zero fucks about what happens with the domestic tv rights because Super League is where the real money would be made anyway.

They sold their stadium's name(Spotify Nou Camp) and got big money from brodcasting rights.

I am more having a hard time to see what's their concept of team building. Lewa, Auba, Torres, Ansu Fati, Rapinha, Dembele.. Even if we exclude and consider Depay and Braithwaite as dead woods, they have too many options for offense and very different kind of players. Midfield same.. Gavi, Pedri, De Jong, Busquets, what is the plan with Kessie? Seems completely out of profile in Xavi's team. They have many CB-s, they are pushing for Kounde while they don't have proper wingbacks(only Jordi Alba and Dest in the squad) and Azpilicueta is the only name who is strongly rumoured. I have no idea how this team could line up, what kind of football they are wishing to play and how they can keep balance in the squad, especially with many attackers.

They won't be buying Donkey then. Fs

No,..but it means they might be more desperate to offload players like Skriniar.

Not sure why Chelsea isn't showing more interest..well, at least I hope we are showing interest, behind the scenes.
