So if Raphinha wants to join Barcelona and de Ligt Bayern, why are we negotiating with these parent clubs, for weeks, on a bid when the players don't want to join? Why are we not agreeing terms before hand when we knew they were available, as we have done in the past?

Because this news has directly come from Barca media and Bayern media sources.

Now would their preferred moves be Barca and Bayern. They most certainly could be.

That doesn't rule us out of signing either though. Despite the Barca media, the suggestions are that Raphinha hasn't called off talks with Chelsea and rejected us outright. If he had the bid would be taken off the table, so this suggests immediately we have more chance of signing him than Barca's media reports suggests. He has every right though to ask for time to see if Barca are serious about signing him.

De Ligt has the same opportunity. If we agree a fee with Juventus for him and Bayern also agree a fee then he has a choice to make and it might not be us. The signs though outside of today's reports from Bayern sources suggest that De Ligt would like to join us if we can agree a fee with Juventus and evidence would suggest this to be the case by us still negotiating for him over other alternatives.

So…

Raphinha

Dembele

De Ligt

Richarlison (thank god)

Gabriel Jesus

Big target after big target we’ve been credibly linked with is being taken off the table. What’s next, Sterling signing a new contract at City?

People losing shit over every tiny bit of news need to give their head a wobble.

It's transfer window. It's silly season. Some deals will happen. Some deals won't.

If we agree a fee with Juventus, I think De Ligt will happily make the move.

I did a social experiment 10/11 years ago on twitter when I had it saying Ronaldinho was meeting the Aston Villa owner about a possible move.

I got over 100 retweets of people losing their shit and the only reason I got caught out (would have confessed eventually after a bit of fun) was because someone who knew where the Villa owner actually was saw it.

As it stands only 2 of them should have  next to them.

Went sent a bid to Leeds they accepted it, had to work on the player, that does happen turns out Raphinha wants Barca but isn't against the idea of Chelsea. So our bid stands our offer is made , up to him now. End off! do you think there is loads of Chelsea staff just staff on their hands wanting for that phone to ring? Why remove the bid and offer to give Barca and advantage? Keeping it there doesn't effect other dealings at all.

You avoided my question.

Why are we wasting weeks in negotiating fees with clubs when personal terms are not agreed?

You realise the bloke that broke the Mane rumors is saying Bayern and De Ligt want one another? How long have we been after de Ligt? 3-4 weeks? It is quite telling if Bayern managed to change his viewpoint in a matter of hours.

This whole argument is moot but evidence will be here to see on which members were right and who were wrong. Best of all, it will give us a clear indication of just what type of owner Boehly is.

Believe it or not but negotiations with club before players is how things should actually be done, you find clubs will demand a higher fee for players when you go behind their backs. Anyways 1 is useless without the other so it's actually irrelevant which way round you do it. And spend weeks the Leeds bid come completely out the blue didn't it?

You could say why have we in the past spent weeks negotiating with clubs for fees when we have already agreed with the player no?

At the end of the day if people want to see us compete for higher tier players then they're going to have to accept we won't get all of them done.

But I would rather us try for De Ligt and Sterling because if we get them in my opinion they elevate the quality and mentality of the squad.

There will be other Richarlison's if that's what people are worried about.

Some guy reliable for Barcelona, I have little hope De Ligt is not dead in the water, but I hope I'm wrong because he is the most important one this whole summer.

The BILD article states Bayern want to use Pavard + cash for De Ligt.

Juve won't ever consider that.

Not really. Much like Barca media, they are known for exaggerating the truth. If you read the article, they want to use cash + Pavard for De Ligt as they cannot afford his valuation.

Per Matt Law, De Ligt wants to join us. As things stand at least. What we should be doing is trying to secure this deal ASAP.

Did we bid on Jesus? I don’t remember that? Thank God Richarlison was not serious. Raphinha and de Ligt are still possibilities. Chelsea is a legit big destination. Teams and  players will try to use us to try to drive up the price of another team they really want to sign with. It goes with the territory.

That said…. Sign someone damn it!
