If Barca in all their financial trouble cough up 70m for raphinha let them have him

not even convinced we need to sign 2 wingers this window. Tt still has to play Mount in midfield in a big match. He and Kai already make up 2/3 of our attack. Add Sterling and we are fine

gnabry would be fine. Best option out there probably. So expect him to sign on for Bayern tho

I seriously just don’t get the appeal of this current Barca if you’re a younger player. You’re watching them go through a financial crisis, they’re forced to sell of some of their biggest ever legends due to their inability to pay their wages, they’ve been begging their players to take dramatic pay cuts, their club hierarchy are always giving interviews about how dire everything is.

How can a player like Raphinha look at all that and think it’s appealing? This isn’t the Barca of 10 years ago where they were a juggernaut competing and winning everything in sight. They’re a shell of their former selves and have no hope of winning LaLiga or the CL anytime soon.

I get it for older players who are nearing the end of their careers and want a cushy final stint like Lewa or Aubameyang, but not younger players.

Barca just like Madrid always have a massive pull because of their history and prestige. Also playing for either Madrid or Barca could give them a good chance to win the Ballon D'Or.

The lifestyle and weather over there also a massive pull don't imagine playing in -1 and it pissing down for 90 mins is that enjoyable.

Yeah it's easy to forget this doesn't really bother us English. As a society we're very much set in our ways, enjoy our own culture, language and for the most part, aren't prepared to venture too far out from our comfort zone.

For the South Americans, Spain and Portugal are the closest countries over in Europe to their culture, language, etc in their home countries. It's a big attraction.

Add to this the aura of Barca and Madrid and it's easy to understand the lure for some players to play for them.

I forgot about Deco existing till this week. Its been clear from the beginning that he/Raphinha prefer Barca but I would still take him if Barca don't have the cash. Tie him to a 5 year deal and if he likes Chelsea, then we get him for his prime years. He can move to Barca at 30 and we upgrade like the Hazard sale.

Full Article:

Chelsea’s negotiations with Juventus over a move for Matthijs de Ligt are progressing with talks continuing regarding a return to Stamford Bridge for Nathan Ake.

As Chelsea wait to find out if Raphinha will agree to move from Leeds United in a £55million, plus add-ons, move or hold out for a switch to Barcelona, Chelsea are working hard on their other targets.

Fresh talks have taken place regarding Raheem Sterling ahead of an anticipated bid, while De Ligt and Ake are high on Chelsea’s immediate agenda.

Given the takeover of the club forced Chelsea into a position of having to play catch-up on their rivals, there would be a sense of satisfaction if the club could complete at least three of the four deals they are most actively working on relatively swiftly. It would also allow some breathing space before using the second half of the summer transfer window to then pursue other targets.

De Ligt is understood to be keen on the prospect of moving to Chelsea and Juventus are believed to have softened their demands in recent days, which makes the prospect of a transfer more realistic.

Juventus had wanted the £102million clause in De Ligt’s contract fulfilled, but the will of the player is set to force that valuation down and Chelsea are also prepared to allow Christian Pulisic or Timo Werner to move in the opposite direction.

De Ligt could form part of a new-look central defence with Ake, who Chelsea are likely to have to pay more than £40m to re-sign from Manchester City.

There remains optimism that Chelsea can land Sterling from City in what would be a high-profile move with the hope of him forming a fresh £105m attack with Raphinha.

Chelsea are being patient in their pursuit of Raphinha, despite agreeing a fee with Leeds United and broadly settling on personal terms of £115,000-a-week over the course of a five-year contract with the player and his representatives.

Raphinha’s agent, the former midfielder Deco, has held talks with Barcelona, who announced a £229m investment from the investment firm Sixth Street in exchange for 10 per cent of the club’s La Liga TV rights for the next 25 years.

That could result in Barca launching a hijack bid for Raphinha, although they are yet to match Chelsea’s offer and are expected to prioritise the signing of striker Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.

Raphinha is thought to favour a move to Barcelona, but is also prepared to join Chelsea if the Spaniards do not reach an agreement with Leeds.
