How Chelsea could line-up after Jadon Sancho transfer as Blues 'launch £80m bid'

Chelsea are looking to snap Jadon Sancho up ahead of Manchester United and Liverpool and are ready to launch a £80m raid on the Borussia Dortmund star in the transfer window

Chelsea could have a hell of an attacking line-up next season if they land Jadon Sancho in the summer window.

The Borussia Dortmund star has been heavily linked with a transfer to Manchester United over the course of the season.

But after missing out on the England international last summer, the Red Devils have opened the door to other clubs.

Chelsea were one of a handful of clubs interested in the winger but were put off by Dortmund's £109m asking price.

However, after his valuation was drastically dropped by nearly £30m, the Blues are prepared to enter the race for Sancho, report The Sun.

Jadon Sancho has scored 14 goals in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund this season

Thomas Tuchel already has a wealth of attacking talent at Stamford Bridge, though it has not always clicked.

The likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech were brought in over the summer window of 2020.

But none of them have settled quite like the Blues would have preferred, though there are signs next season could be more fruitful.

The arrival of Sancho would surely push one of the trio out of the line-up and leave them questioning their future.

And that does not even mention Christian Pulisic, who ultimately left Dortmund after losing his spot to the former Manchester City ace.

As for Sancho, the Camberwell-born star is keen on a return to England after four years in the Bundesliga.

Chelsea might be boosted by the fact that he grew up a Blues fan and is a true Londoner while he is close pals with Tammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Trevoh Chalobah.

But Tuchel has other areas of the squad to bolster with a striker top of his wish list while a centre-back is also mooted.

Harry Kane and Erling Haaland might prove too difficult but Romelu Lukaku is on their radar while Wolfsburg star Maxence Lacroix has been tipped to sign in the summer.

Potential starting XI: Mendy; Lacroix, Silva, Rudiger; James, Kante, Kovacic, Chilwell; Sancho, Lukaku, Mount.

Never understood why do we need Sancho when we have Pulisic and Odoi on the wide position? Even Werner can be moved in there if there is a world class no 9.

It seems like we r connected to every "the next best thing", "Generational talent", "wonder kid" without checking who we have. The best part is that expectation is that everyone should come in and get the ground running however the reality is different. Imagine getting Sancho & he turns out average in his first season (which is a strong possibility), towards the end of the season papers would be looking for the next best thing to replace him.

If the price tag for each target was :

1. Lewa = £60 m

2. Kane = £100 m

3. Lukaku = £80 m

4. Haaland = £150 m

then i'll pick the best 2 value for money based on this season stats are Lewa and Kane....

£60m for a 33yo (in 90 days) on 400K PW wages for 3 years is not good value IMHO. That's a total outlay of £120m or so with absolutely zero resale value (his next club he will be 36yo at).

No way that Lewandowski rumors are true. Bayern won't sell him this summer. Next summer...maybe. It all feels like a ploy to get more money out of the club. It's just like when we were suddenly linked with Neuer not too long ago and he then got a new contract at Bayern.

Yes, I just looked into it on a more granular level, and there is zero chance he is leaving Bayern.

It is all his agent agitating for a 2 year extension to take his contract to 2025.

Kane is clearly desperate to leave. He’s off 100% if a club comes in with £100m. Judging by that interview he will absolutely put in a transfer request when he speaks with Levy about his future.

As for Lewandowski, Bayern’s chairman already said last week that they aren’t even considering selling him. We can cross that one off.

Looks like it’s Haaland or bust for us. We’ll have to think of some more unconventional targets.

But what will he do if no club comes in for him, especially with that kind of money? What if Levy will not back down?

City definitely would.

I know people keep on saying City would because they have a lot of money but they have actually been careful to not pay over the odds for a player. Their most expensive signing is Dias at only £68m, that is less than what we paid for Havertz or Kepa. It's also debatable whether Guardiola even wants a striker considering his penchant for the False 9.

Feels to me like one of those situations where he and his agent have gotten signals from one or more clubs that they’re interested and will formally make a move for him. That’s why he’s starting the push now in public. Probably Pep and City in his ear.

Levy could definitely play hardball but he has eventually broken down and sold. Modric, Bale, Eriksen. This could cause a massive distraction and headache for the new manager they’re bringing in to have you best player unhappy and wanting out.

Their journos has been saying City will buy a new no .9.

Maybe or he could be overplaying his cards. I mean, he stupidly signed that 6-year contract and gave his future to Levy.

Have also mentioned before, if you're gonna spend 100m+ on a striker, you would be better off spending it on someone like Haaland. Kane will guarantee instant success because of his age but in terms of long term investment, he makes no sense if someone like Haaland is available. No point spending 100m+ now on a player and then potentially needing to spend big again in 2-3 years time.

Even so, no guarantee Guardiola will go for Kane anyway.

Also, IF Messi becomes available this summer, would Guardiola go for him instead?

Maybe, but Kane and Messi are more suited to Guardiola's system than Haaland or Lukaku.
