Chelsea Transfers

Some of these smaller PL teams will get desperate as the deadline approaches and it's at that time we can probably scam a couple of them into coming for our deadwood. Maybe even on loan if necessary. Could see Ross or RLC going on loan.

Before this transfer window, we had every right to criticise her.

This window has been so extraordinary, people already forgot the awful signings we had over the years.

Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Zappacosta, Higuain, Morata (although BIG credit to her to offloading him not losing money), Barkley, resigning Alonso, Bats...

Not to mention the transfer ban (although that is more collectively the board’s fault, she IS part of it).

We had awful windows these past number of years, that’s why one of the reasons we found ourselves outside the top 4 at one point and nowhere near challenging City or Liverpool. It’s why one of the reasons last season we got mullered 7-1 in agg against Bayern.

We are having a fanatical right now with this window. You can forgive her. But don’t forget about WHY this window is so big. It’s because previously all of our past windows since 14/15 were shite.

No doubt the likes of Drinkwater and Bakayoko etc were bad signings but what’s it to do with Marina? Seriously this nonsense should stop already, Marina didn’t doesn’t won’t choose targets, she only takes orders and negotiates, no?

She doesn’t just “negotiate”, she’s the chief. She has a lot more power than you think at this club. Example Conte had better targets, but he didn’t get them and we got players like Zappa instead. You don’t think she played NO part in that?

I doubt this shit will happen again now with Cech here, he seems to have a massive influence on transfers, as much as Lampard does.

I truly believe she doesn’t have the power to identify targets. That’s not her job, if she’s the one to choose then I think it’s a mega stupid decision by the club as a whole. Every bad signings the club should be blamed as a whole, from scouts to the manager to the director and to the board, ironically Marina holds the least responsibility. We can only blame her for didn’t negotiate a lower fee but who are we to know what were the situations back then? Maybe the time left for her to negotiate was limited, maybe our club sent out the desperate signal to seller clubs so that she didn’t have much leverages to bargain, who knows.

Some rumours about Umtiti being released by Barca, might be worth a punt on a free despite his injury record.

Also looking at the state of West Ham I honestly think we should try and get Rice now since Lampard likes him a lot, he isn't my favorite but is decent and can cover the centre back as well in case things go tits up again this season.

It’s debatable I agree, but Conte just gave you the PL title, trust in the guy FFS.

Then if it goes wrong, Conte would had zero excuses.

He did win the PL title but trust him when he's asking players like Candreva, Llorente? That's very difficult.

Furthermore, this is a manager who refused to work with the board properly on transfer targets and reportedly turned off his mobile in 2017 off season to avoid being contacted by the club.

I don’t know what Conte sees in them. But if they are old and crap, then that’s Marina’s job to get the lowest fee for them as possible. Although, we don’t know exactly what happened behind the scenes, and Conte could have been the one who fecked up the relationship.

The point here isn't about the fee but the quality of players he wanted. We would still have ended up with duds, just like we did with Drinkwater, Zappacosta etc. You complained about the piss poor players that we have but are okay with what Conte wanted back then?

Let's face it, Conte is a pain in the arse to deal with. It's always either his way or he'll go on a "riot" and start moaning about everything, including the club, in the public. You only have to look at some of the recent nonsense he did at Inter when he didn't get what we wanted. And oh, you also have to look at some of the duds he's signed since he's been there.

I didn’t say she is the one scouting these players, but if a coach had a player in mind, but Marina doesn’t think it’s worth it, she has the power to deny. Again, chief executive. I can’t think of a person in Chelsea who holds so much power other than Roman and Bruce.
I strongly do not believe she has the least power in the board. She is the most powerful woman in world football. One of the top directors in world football. So when top corporations rate her at that level, I cannot think why she would have the least responsibility.

You miss the points from my posts. I didn’t say she has the least power in the club, I said she holds the least responsibility for signings that turned out to be bad players for us. Ok maybe even like you said it’s the case that she declined manager’s “good” targets (which again I don’t buy it, even it’s true that’s only down to financial reasons), who gave her the bad targets then? By browsing WhoScored herself then say fuck it let’s sign Zappacosta? I bet you she even didn’t know who the fuck is Zappacosta before entering the negotiation. A bad signing is caused by poor identifying by the scouts, bad filtering by the director of sports and the manager, Marina was is and will be only responsible for the signing fee.
