DH1988 1,348
Such an impressive first half with the formation and personnel. Second half just seemed to back off, then players got tired, especially going to Dave every time who kills most attacks.

And when it does its offside The 3 words Chelsea fans hate to hear on commentary ‘Timo Werner…. Offside’ Didnt really need to force the issue second half, managed the game well despite Spurs having 10 minutes where they played much better. bigbluewillie

The only players looking to make quick one touch passing plays through the middle are RLC and Kovacic. Movement is poor disagree, we were very effective moving the ball, the finishing was shit, so many blown chances
Tomo 21,751
So this is what playing against us in 17/18 felt like.... Jase
ZAPHOD2319 4,819
Saul has a half of a year to progress more. Tonight was his biggest step forward. Second half was toothless but with all our injuries and covid lately, 2-0 works. Should have been more. Johnnyeye
chelsea_4_eva 1,182
Should have been at least 3.. but we move on. Best game so far for Saul, good for his confidence. All round all played well.
different level 1,056
Probably should've won by more but I'll take that. Next!
Jase 43,479
Impressed with the defensive, pressing effort in today's system but felt somewhat vulnerable defensively whenever Spurs got forward. Otherwise, good performance all around against what was Spurs' first XI.

Again, better, but still very basic passing mostly backwards and sideways, until we get it to the wingers and they cross and pray. So many times we start to build up a good passing build up and someone inevitably literally stops the ball and passes it backwards or to the side. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this has been the story of the team since Lampard came in
Magic Lamps 11,692
Also again 2 injuries. Really can’t catch a break Simply have to buy i like that the back 4 system gives us a bit more attacking options but obviously can’t fix our profligate finishing

ZAPHOD2319 4,819
Someone needs to remind Ziyech that kicking the ball forward and trying to run past PL defenders requires more speed than he possesses. That was a beautiful pass that he hit Timo with.

I thought was alright under the circumstances. Sarr Alonso is obviously very shaky and they targeted them. But we limited a very competent attack to a couple of half chances so can’t complain
NikkiCFC 8,331
Alonso great for that first goal. If we can recall Emerson I would feel comfy in we go back to back 4 for the rest of the season. Those two did job in the end for Sarri.

OhForAGreavsie 6,077
Good news, bad news in TT's post game with CTV. Good news that Thiago and N'Golo were due to start. For me this shows the proper attitude towards this game. Bad news of course that illness kept them out. Got Covid in good moment if you can say something like that. We did job without them, they will miss 5th division team and be back next week for important games.
