Beautiful start!

A thumping win and a clean sheet to boot., and this without our main goal threat yet to start.

Granted Palace were useless, but I thought Kovacic and Jorginho absolutely bossed it in the middle of the park.

Mount looked sharp as usual, Timo hard working, Pulisic back to goal scoring.

And Havertz had an electric cameo too. Should have added a 4th.

But good that we scored 3, given Uniteds fantastic start.

We could actually have multiple contenders this season and every goal could count.

Do u actually watch the game of do u just watch who ever is on the ball? I suggest just watching werners movement and runs etc etc and just watch the space he creates and the players he pulls out of position.

So we are actually bought Werner for his movement...Great stuff

We bought him to improve the team. He doesn't score as much as he should ill give u that, but his work rate and movement bring so much more than any 1 we currently have.

This movement you're trying to play down dragged Ruben Dias away to give Havertz the freedom of Porto and win us the second biggest prize in football.

If his presence keeps helping the team create moments of history like that then he can never score again for all i care.

Aye, he did go through a barren run last season but do we just ignore the context of him losing confidence during that period before getting somewhat better after Tuchel came in?

Did he not contribute to the team under Tuchel last season? Sure, the goals were lacking but the assists weren't.

We'll see what happens this season.

He only played 2 pre-season games and just 4 games overall. Are you really expecting progression so fast immediately after the summer break?

Has anyone showed clear signs of progression so far this season, besides the goals?

Somewhat better he still didn’t exactly convince entirely in the second half of the season Tuchel was there. Granted his general play improved in bits and his role changed in the team but I still dont think he had the impact your acting as if he did.

His movement granted helps when we play a City or a Real or a Liverpool etc in a bigger game maybe or as an outlet but he doesn’t offer enough in general play at times and ultimately he is going to be judged on goals scored as is his reputation in Germany. You dont sign an attacker and judge him on movement or pressing.

For me theres no big signs of improvement from when Tuchel came in last season. Even Havertz looks stronger and sharper in pre season, as well as having considerably improved as a false 9 and even today when he came on, he looked more comfortable and better than what we were seeing. Thats the sort of noticeable improvement you’d expect. Ziyech also was playing very well in pre season looking like the player we signed from Ajax.

This movement stuff, its all well and good but its very Torres and Falcao-esque, he has to hit the net snd improve the other facets of his game, a lot, because if these others come back and play better and Lukaku starts well, we all know where Werner might find himself. I dont think TT is blind to the fact his goal return is poor.

Did he or did he not provide at least key assists in the run-in? Has he not proven to be a key component in the way Tuchel wants us to play?

You're making it as if I actually said he has had profound impact when all I said was he has contributed to the team, just not with the consistent flow of goals that we all want. Plus as some others have said here, no one else in the team is able to provide what he does. We played better last season when he's in the team and the stats are there to back it up.

For sure he'll be judged on goals but at the same time, he's also not bought purely for that. Same goes for every signing and every attacker. So how about we see what happens this season instead of crying foul over the same thing repeatedly?

By the way, it's funny how you said an attacker is judged on the end product and not the movement or pressing when I believe you have made excuses for some other player.

Do people only judge players, results etc in pre-season when it suits them?

Havertz was good against Arsenal but then he was quiet against Spurs and in the Super Cup. Havertz did look dangerous after he came on today but the end product wasn't there, was it? Is it any different to what Werner did in the few times he got in behind but produced no end product that he's getting criticized for?

Ziyech was good in pre-season but are we sure it's gonna continue into the season? It's not as if he didn't have good performances last season, only to see him produced some bad ones.

For sure he needs to improve but at the same time, if it was all about the goals with Tuchel, he would have been dropped long time ago.

Good start of the season. I didnt expect so easy game but CP didnt create anything. Most players played really good but Werner is still Werner sadly.
I love how Trevor comes into first 11. He should stay I think as we still dont know how contracts will go with Rudiger and Christensen, also Silva is older and older. We can move Kounde deal for next summer.

I know it’s probably the one side we are most comfortable playing against but we looked pretty well rounded. The intensity was good, we kept on playing even after the 2nd. While the first goal was a set piece , I think with our speed and relentless pressure at some point they would have caved in anyway.
good thing is we now have a full week to blood lukaku in

our defense was amazing, conceded just one real chance. That Ac, Toni, Trev combo looks like one that could work for the future.
Midfield was passive as usual…attack rather profligate

but good thing is we have Alonso in the form of his life to help us out.

You are happy with Werner, and happy with Mount. But if these two never have to score again as two of three attacking players in starting lineup, where are goals gonna come?

Are we hoping that 3rd attacker Lukaku/Havertz will score every game? Today defenders scored but this happens like once in 20 games.

It would be nice if all 3 attacking players are constant goal threat because if our defense drop a bit in quality we may be in trouble.

Werner is effective against big teams that like to press us. However he's just not a player that you start in every Premier League game. Most Premier League teams park the bus against us, which means that he's not that effective compared to Havertz or Mount for example.

I feel like our go to front three in the PL should be Mount-Lukaku-Havertz.
