Aesthetic Relic 301
Goal.com Scolari Set For January Bargain Hunt According to reports in The Sun, Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is set to go bargain hunting in January in order to bolster his frontline. The gaffer has been harping on behind the scenes about the need for a deeper striking pool. He's glad his side are chipping in goals from all positions and angles at present, but knows that too much pressure rests on the shoulders of weekend hat-trick hero Nicolas Anelka. The Blues board are restructuring the club's finances at present and, although they know Scolari is eager to provide support for Anelka and injury-plagued Didier Drogba, the Brazilian's war chest will be smaller than usual...just £10 million. Scolari is said to covet Sevilla's Luis Fabiano, but his pocket money won't tickle the Spanish side and Scolari is set to find out what it's like having realistic levels of money to spend at Stamford Bridge - a strange and wonderful situation. £10m would delight many Premiership managers, but Chelsea's free-spending ways in recent years have led to a situation wherein other clubs are keen to drain them for every penny. It remains to be seen if the Blues will try to move on some fringe players in order to free up a little more transfer cash. We do need an extra striker more for cover than anything else. Fabiano would cost a considerable amount of cash, and even if we were to sell a few fringe players I dont think we could get enough cash together to make Fabianos club part with him mid-season. BlueLion. 21,491
Schweinsteiger is out of contract at Bayern in the summer. We can get him in on a free in January, and then he can join us in June. Would be a class signing.

He's still in his early 20's and he's got bags of experience. He would definately be a player I'd like to see at SB.
BlueLion. 21,491
Spot on, he's young and therefore has many years to improve. He's arguably as good as Robben ever was for us at his best and he has bags of potential.

He's arguably as good as Robben ever was for us at his best and he has bags of potential. He went off the football radar for a while. I dont know if he was injured or not, but he certainly looked one of the better players in the German side suring the summer. Has a bit of a hot head though which would be something he needs to sort out.
Kez 2,727
I would love to see us sign Schweinsteiger i've always liked him since we played Bayern in 2005
BlueLion. 21,491
I think he broke his leg, TB, which would explain the absence. Apparently Milan are after him: http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=940156 Edited November 3, 2008 by BlueLion

We can get him in on a free in January, and then he can join us in June. Would be a class signing. We need someone for this season post January, when things get hectic from February with Carling Cup FA Cup fixtures. And we need a winger more than a striker. But if we are looking at next season, Robinho for sure is destined to join us. No Fucking doubt about it. Manchester City will struggle to get a UEFA cup place and Robinho wouldnt want to be playing for them next season. The only issue would be to see how greedy Manc City get. Plus Schwinstieger is very much similar to Malouda, but is very fast on the flanks unlike the latter. So if we can sell malouda and get Bastian(thats easier) I would luv it. Kez 2,727
I can't see us getting Robinho, they'll hold him to ransom and make anyone wanting to buy him pay a ridiculous amount of money.

Hence I said, we'll have to wait and see how greedy they get. I hope he has a flop season there.
BlueLion. 21,491
Robinho will stay for the wages they are paying him even if they finish in the bottom half, I guess.
Kez 2,727
Exactly he's not even worth going after anymore, time to find another winger
Elliott 7
Given that he went to Manchester City because we were never given permission to offer him a contract, there's nothing to say we couldn't tempt him here in the summer.
BlueLion. 21,491
Granted, and if we could match his wages I'm sure we'd have a case, but do we want to spend such a large amount on Robinho when we should be going after even better players, like Benzema? Elliott 7
Well if we need a winger, Benzema is irrelevant, surely? Would have a dabble at Ashley Young myself, although he might just be another SWP. Of course, neither Benzema nor Young could be bought as bargains
Laylabelle 9,539
I cant see City letting Robinho go though to be honest,he needs the players to bounce off and no offense to City at the mo they dont seem to have em.He was appaling yesterday saying that. Be funny in a way if we did, after all that 'Look we've got Robinho blah blah we beat Chelsea...' and 'now we dont' Though I think a limited budget in a way be a good thing, high price tag doesnt mean a player is gana perform etc, haggle etc..maybe not Edited November 3, 2008 by Laylabelle
