Azul 1,615
Thiago Silva was immense today, Zouma looked amazing next to him, Havertz showed why people call him a generational talent, and don't get me started on Chilwell. The whole team just clicked, but I have a feeling that we can play much better attacking wise. Once Pulisic and Ziyech come back, then we'll look completely different. We need more directness in midfield and better play in the final third. Muzchap, bigbluewillie and BXL70

Vytis33 1,271
Timo is so annoyed when he doesn't have a chance to score. And not in a Tammy arms flailing kind of way. Give him more opportunities please. 0007

I see no difference in two halves and they were both good to me, yet some said we were shit at half time and good game after the final whistle, I mean lol, most of the fans are result driven nowadays which is understandable though. P.s. I can see why people say Havertz is generational talent now. Based on this performance, you start to understand why people say havertz is generational talent? He brushes past players at times with his dribbling. You can still see he needs to fully adjust to the pace of this league. The fact he can only get better from here, despite the glimpses we've seen so far, is promising. bigbluewillie, Fernando, 1chelsea and 3 others
Popular Post! Superblue 6,372 Posted October 3, 2020 Popular Post! Share Posted October 3, 2020 I thought the performance today was overall excellent for this stage of the season. I've mentioned in the previous 3 league games despite an some doom and gloom that I've seen some pleasing aspects of maturity and development. The Brighton game, having retaken the lead we controlled the final 20 minutes to see the game out well. The Liverpool game showed more defensive resolve which wasn't there much last season and the second half against West Brom it was pleasing to see some more fight which again wasn't always evident last season. Today was one of the most controlled and comfortable games I've seen under Lampard. There were some stages of the game for 5-10 minutes where the game went very quiet and pedestrian but we were still in control of the ball. That is a huge thing to see from this side. We took a breather and went again, all whilst making Palace continue to chase our shadows and prevent them wrestling momentum from us. There were also some excellent tactical fouls high up the pitch that City are the masters of. It completely prevented us getting hit on the counter when we did lose the ball. Player wise, I thought Havertz was excellent. He doesn't need to be racking up goals and assists constantly to be judged. The space he manages to find, even with a team playing so defensively, and his confidence and natural ability to take the ball in tight pockets will be a massive weapon moving forward. I couldn't care less about Silva's age, he still looks one of the best defenders in the league and will upgrade us. I think that him and Zouma look the natural pairing and I hope Lampard gives that partnership as much opportunity as possible to play and work together. They need a run of games to continue to improve that understanding as there will be bigger defensive tests (although it makes a huge difference when players in front of them are doing their job defensively to snuff out most things before it even reaches the defence). And I'm delighted for Chilwell too. Completely written off by lots of fans (not just on this forum) before he'd even kicked a ball. In my opinion he was the second best left back in the league behind Robertson and solidified that for me. He will make a big difference to this side. I think he can still improve significantly too (he can attack more aggressively at times but I think that will come with more confidence). His crossing was mostly excellent, as was his corner taking. It made a huge difference having 90% of corners beating the first man and giving our players in the box a chance at them. We looked threatening with it most of the game against a side who are usually well organised in that area. We can go into the international break now with a lot more renewed optimism about this season and an excellent result to build on when we come back. May you elaborate it moreNo, he’s been good for few matches already. My Havertz comment was not based on this match only, he’s been gradually better and better after settling. For me Zouma does not belong in a club like chelsea. Can be used in certain situations, but not good enough as a starter (same as Abraham). It's not because he's a terrible defender, reckon he'd be excellent in a lot of PL clubs and some, but he's just a waste of space in a game like today. Against super weak opposition, like CP, his poor passing adds nothing. Against top opposition, they will stick a player on silva at all times and switch on and off applying pressure on zouma to regain possession. That leaves the odd away games, against teams who employ set pieces a lot. In any top club both CBs need to know what to do with the football and zouma simply does not - that can and will be exploited. Good game by all, but don't take too much from it - really poor opposition with heavy touches all over. BTW, looks like we finally have a goalkeeper. 0007

Lot of praise for our attacker but honestly nothing really happen, you need to be more aggressive playing packed defense. It was like watching Sarriball It was better after the restart but we scored just 5 minutes into the 2nd half when Sakho gave CHO the ball in his box. We scored hence Palace need to open up a bit, but honestly even after then I can't remember we created any notable chances.

petre.ispirescu 4,928
Good, now let's settle for this back five and move forward from there. Feel we're like a drug addict coming off his rehab, we need small steps, but hopefully it'll get better. Next we need Pulisic and Ziyech fully fit and things should be more clearer and the constant chopping and chaning must stop, even if it takes a few bad results before they all gel in together. Mendy - Azpilicueta, Silva, Zouma, Chilwell - Kante, Jorginho - Pulisic, Havertz, Ziyech - Werner. Muzchap

Hutcho 8,443
I've just watched the game in full.Great defensively which is very nice to see. Great defensive pairing. Chillwell easily the MOTM. Difference with him and alonso/Emerson was crazy. Even if he didn't score I think he was my MOTM. Jorginho is out pen taker he takes the pens end of. We have an order and stick to it. Timo will get plenty of chances to score. Imagine at 2 nil timo takes it and misses and they score. The uproar. Jorgi is a great pen taker he takes the pens if he's on the pitch.Timo is playing there out of necessity and won't be there long term so I'm sure he will be fine and soon be playing down the middle. I'd still want to see a bit more from him but he wasn't bad just struggled to get in the game. Kai looked good for the most part. Jorginho was very good as well. Can't not be happy with that. petre.ispirescu, Fernando and Muzchap

He had 5 "bad touches" leading to loss of possession. Seemed slow, to the point he was dispossessed, and had to make a bad tackle (eze). Not an indication of his talents, but he is way off in settling down and learning about this league. If mount had put in that performanfe, lost the ball as many times, he would have been slaughtered. In my opinion, Kai played very well against a mid-table team like Chrystal Palace; indeed he needs to adapt to PL, his teammates, and it remains to be seen how he will perform against top clubs, but he can only improve over time. I am not worried at all. Fantastic player.
