Let's take a moment and understand what we have acheived this season. We had the following things against us - 1. Transfer ban 2. Losing our (and PL's) best player to RM 3. Paradigm shifting change in system 4. Paradigm shifting integration of youth And we still got top 4 in this league. It's was not all smooth sailing by any stretch of imagination, and ofcourse there is a massive learning curve here, but we still OVER- acheived. Regarding the game, Zouma, Rudi were immense. Azpi was assured but made a couple of errors. Reece had another solid outing. Alonso was surprisingly untroubled. Jorginho and kovacic controlled the game - the tempo, the pace. Mount - MOTM and what a performance. Giroud - well, before his goal, thought he was having a stinker, but such a well taken goal. Brilliant anticipation. When this transfer happened, was so unhappy, but so glad to have been proven SOOO wrong. Saved our season. Infact saved us the last season too. Pulisic - shut down well by wolves. Everytime he got the ball, you could see 2-3 wolves players closing him down. Will have to learn to play against that. That's his future. World class players get that attention. What a brilliant overall performance. Now for the FA cup and to give a decent account of ourselves in the CL against Bayern. Share Posted July 26, 2020 Many congrats to Lamps and the lads for securing top 4, it was an up and down season as it was expected, minding we lost Hazard and had a transfer ban, but despite all that Lamps worked with what he got and managed to integrate youth players in the squad and it payed dividends in the end, many props to Lamps and the coaching staff, there are indeed very bright signs for the future, there are of course many defensive flaws in this team that need to be adressed asap. We managed to hold on in the end against all odds, we got big results along the way, witnessed great performances from Pulisic, Willian, Mount, Gilmour, etc, got to the last 16 of Champions League and reached the FA Cup final, this when many didnt give us a chance at the start of the season, so it feels amazing to prove everyone wrong and to be able to witness a new revolution at the club. Here's to a successful future for Chelsea Football Club and KTBFFH always. Wolves had something to play for. If Wolves won, they would have been confirmed to get at least Europa League next season. If Arsenal win FA Cup and Wolves fail to win Europa, Wolves will not be playing any European footy next season at all. They have actually shut oppo down like that more times than our goal against collum suggests, just often their work was ruined by the first clean strike (in today's case would have been Jota's early in the second half) going in. That's why I'm not as desperate for immediate upgrades for CB as most, attackers taking their chances and a goalie who does even the basics right will make a huge difference. The key is no Kepa behind them. No fears of a blunder or every shot going in. For example I guarantee that Jota would have scored early in the second half if Kepa was there.
