135 minutes of football is hardly a good enough sample size. I remember when Barkley had that good spell of form after Villa beat Arsenal last season and there was a major outroar why we kept Mount and loaned out Barkley.

Barkley did nothing of note after the Arsenal game whereas Mount scored against Liverpool, Porto, Real, and played the pass that won the European Cup.

Alan Shearer issues five-word verdict on Conor Gallagher after Chelsea loanee stars for Palace

Blues loanee Conor Gallagher scored his first Crystal Palace goals in Saturday's 2-2 draw with West Ham United at the London Stadium as Patrick Vieira's side picked up a point

Conor Gallagher officially announced himself as a Crystal Palace player on Saturday afternoon in the Eagles' 2-2 draw with West Ham United.

The 21-year-old, who joined Palace on a season-long loan deal earlier this summer, scored a brace for the south London club, as Patrick Vieira's side earned a draw against the Hammers.

Gallagher spent last season on loan at West Brom, and there were suggestions that the midfielder could return to Chelsea and compete for a place in Thomas Tuchel's team.

However, Gallagher decided to make another loan move and he has enjoyed a fine start at Selhurst Park.

Now, Alan Shearer has spoken about Gallagher and his impressive display against West Ham, and the former Newcastle United striker thinks the Blues ace is improving all the time.

"With two well-taken goals against an in-form Hammers side, the impressive Gallagher showed he is going from strength to strength," Shearer wrote on the Premier League's official website

Eagles manager Vieira, when speaking about Gallagher following Saturday's draw, mentioned how he saw both sides of the midfielder's game at the London Stadium.

"He has the ability to remain calm in the box, he's a really good finisher," the former Arsenal captain said to the media on Saturday.

"He has a lot of energy and works hard for the team. When he's in this kind of situation he scores goals.

"Conor had a good loan last year. He did well. He's a player who needs to play week in and week out and coming to us was a smart move for him.

"We will give him time to keep playing and keep performing. Today he showed a lot of quality on both sides of the game."

He decided that game basically.

Conor's interception is what led to Tanganka's reckless tackle that got him sent off and his cross was what got blocked via hand and resulted in  pen. Additionally he also assisted the 3rd with a beautiful pass.

Really sad he could not show what he got in pre-season. lets hope he shines for us next year.

Probably will have a bad pre season again and will be loaned out again afterwards lol. Two bad pre seasons in a row, but then delivers in PL

How do we know he had bad pre season? We just watched him in one game and he was the only one playing full 90mins.

Tuchel wanted to keep him even this season as 4th MF but he wanted playing time. Same with Gilmour. This is reported by Matt Law.

There a link you can provide?

It's still too early to tell but atm he's doing great in a system that gets the best out of him. A free 'box to box' role in a 433.

The CM positions in our system require the utmost discipline. We saw how much he struggled in that position during preseason. He continues his form, we could fork a lot out of the buying club considering he is contracted until 2025.

I have just finished watching Liverpool Vs Palace. What an outstanding performance by Gallagher. I think he is definately ready for the first team next season. What amazes me is the ground he covers. Can you imagine if we play him and Kante it will be like playing with 13 Vs 11

Round 1: Did not play against his club Chelsea.

Round 2: MOTM - Hit the post against Brentford, unlucky not to score there. Best player on the pitch.

Round 3: Two goals against WH - MOTM

Round 4: Assisted a goal from open play against Spurs, won penalty, and after his interception Tanganga got red card. Zaha got MOTM but Gallagher was right there.

Round 5: At Anfield again best Palace player, after his long ball Palace hit the post early in the game when it was still 0:0. Basically created all for CP.

Round 6: Another MOTM and won penalty against Brighton after great solo action.

So in 5 games: 2 goals, 1 assist, 2 pens won, 3 MOTM awards (or 4 if you count only Palace players) and great overall game in every department. Amazing work rate, creative and most importantly constant goal threat!

We do not have an attacker who is constant goal threat but Gallagher who is a MF in 433 is every game! And all of this for Palace! If you can win over fans from 4 different clubs to adore you in just 25 months you must be a special player.
