Two ex Chelsea players have got promotion through the play offs in successive seasons as the song says two out of three ain't bad. Doubt either of them will be considered for the managers role anytime soon.

Expand

Yes, Jokanovic got promoted twice. With Watford and Fulham and now Parker. Lamps got job because of his status and he has special treatment so no surprise he practice the same with his players.

Exactly. Parker earned his way to the PL. Did it the hard way. Lampard didn't.

I don't respect Ole because he didn't earn his way to managing United. It's no surprise I'm not a fan of Lampard (as coach) because it's the same.

EDIT: Inb4 - "But...Pep did the same thing!"...even though Pep wasn't Barca's first choice to replace Rijkaard and Pep had superstars already when appointed.

Didn’t your say you were gonna stop taking digs at Lampard if he gets top4?

this one is completely needless as well.

also who cares if you think whether someone has earned his top flight job. Guardiola and Zidane clearly do not

Well I’m still frustrated with the FA Cup final. I know I don’t respect the cup as much anymore, but it’s losing to Arsenal that did it. My dad, some friends and my cousin were doing my head in for 2 days after the final. Posting pics of Aubameyang and saying Arteta is better than Lampard.

I’ll get over the FA Cup defeat though, then I won’t make small digs on Lamps until next year. He did the bare minimum, I would have snapped your hand off at the beginning of the season if someone said to me all you’re getting is 4th place.

Expand

Well, I am super frustrated as well, so I understand you. After Anthony Taylor that corrupted waste of space, Lampard is probably most culpable for the team's failure. Still, I am gonna hold you to your word and here is why:

I am under no illusion that Lampard is probably not a manager who will be here for 10+ years and win multiple titles with us. In fact, after what I saw from our defense this season and his tactics in the cup final, I would be pleasantly surprised if we win a single title with him at all. Yet, I am not gonna blame him for having taken his dream job, even if it was way too early for him. If any, we should blame the board to make him a PR stunt to maintain fan support amidst the transfer ban and than uninspiring Sarri intermezzo.

Instead, I think we should just enjoy having a club legend being our manager and representing the club with dignity after all the crackheads. Even though I am not clinging to the romantic pipedream that he will win it all again with us as a manager, I am enjoying it while it lasts. So, I am not gonna try to stop other fans enjoying by constanlty and needlessly throwing him under the bus at every opportunity.

Last but not least, Lampard has become our coach in one of the most difficult periods in the Roman era. Thanks to the boards incompetence, the squad is a bloated mess with no leaders and full of bang average over the hill players mixed with inexperienced prospects and injury-prone players. This squad is competing against pool and shitty's best ever squads in their prime. Realistically we can not be expected to win titles in the coming years. Still, Lampard has made an invaluable contribution already. By securing long-term deals for our best prospects and swaying young quality in Werner and soon Havertz he is setting us up for the future. A title-laden future that will probably be one without him as our coach but surely this contribution is more important than top4 with a bad or mediocre defense and a few points more or less.

Lampard could do what Ranieri did in the early 2000s. He built the foundation of the side before Mourinho came in and took the club to another level. Would be great if Lampard can lead us to trophies of course but if it's not him, I wonder who will be our Mourinho this time.

If lampard can't make an continous improvement the way we play for the next 2-3 years,,i'll prefer to take Julian Nagelsmann. he has a potential to be great manager in such a young age (now 33 years)...

Decent shout, so is Poch imo. Then you have Allegri and Simeone ( yes I know many would hate them 2 but still quality managers ).

If we cant see progress by this time next season, if the shape of the defence is still horrid, if we still keep having major injuries then FL is out imo. He cant hide as much next season and he damn well knows it our Frank.

I hope he is the one for us and a great success story.

Allegri? Simeone? No thanks. It'll be another 180 degrees turn on the playing style again.

I care not about style, I care about results. Just names we are throwing around anyway cuz FL aint going anywhere neither should he. We got top4, so he def deserves another go.

Poch only, I don't want the other 2.

Anyhow my dream has always been Bielsa. Now that he is in the Premier League I wonder if Roman gets interested if Bielsa does good with Leeds in the new season. :)

YEah Poch with backing would do damage im sure of it, plays nice footy, not much issues with his players, can motivate and tactically very decent. I cant see Bielsa at Chels, fat chance mate.

If we ever appoint a Simeone or Allegri it can only be justified with strong challenges for the big two every season at a minimum.

Very few teams can do that mate, so a bit unfair.....all I know is they are astute and capable. We aint getting none of the names mentioned anyway as Frank deserved a proper go. Next season is vital, then we will see what Frank is made of.

Not for me, they're instant results based manager's who don't really look at the bigger picture (especially in Allegri's case), those methods can only be justified by getting results and big one's. Manager's like Lampard, Pochettino and even OGS you can offer a bit of leeway too as they try to build a sustainable squad and brand of football that will benefit the club even if they don't turn out to be good enough.
